If Kippy's out, Who's Next?

Sad to see that evryone is pulling their name out of the hat for our good 'ole OC position. All this talk about Frank Cignetti has me wary though, he hasn't been very succesful anywhere besides Fresno State. Positives are that he is young and interested, but are programs like UNC and Fresno great stepping stones to UT?

Who else do you guys think is in the mix or should be?

I'm excited to hear rumors of Phil talking to "someone from Michigan's Staff". Fred Jackson and Erik Campbell are fantastic assitant coaches and skill position mentors. Not to mention the fact that they can recruit with the best in the country especially Jackson. He has produced 10 different Running Backs who have surpassed the 1000 yard mark in a season in just 15 years!

No arguement here...
If the vols just have to go to the NFL, the NO Saints OC was mentioned as a candidate, and I would try to get him.  However, if that does not seem a possibility, I want to stay at the college level with someone who knows how to run a successful college offense, such as spread packages.  Malzahn would be an awesome idea, and we could see if his system can stay insanely productive in the SEC.  Trooper taylor would be a good decision because, while he knows the Tennessee system, he also would know what tweaks would need to be added to make our offense potent.  Furthermore, in taylor, we would get to keep our best recruiter.  If the Michigan QB coach has a good recruiting past, I would have no problem getting him either, as he knows how to make qbs successful.  My main point is to stay on the college level, because the transition from the pros back to college may be just as enduring from the college to the pros.

Kippy is not out
Just read on profootballtalk.com that Kippy Brown WILL NOT be named the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. It will go to Jim Coletto. So maybe Kippy is in the running after all.
