Lady Vols pull in #1 Seed

While this site is geared towards the men's athletics, it IS called "Rocky Top Talk" which should encompas everything Volunteers! I think it's important to give the ladies their due verbiage, particularly after their incredible reign of success under Coach Pat "Don't listen to me sing" Summitt!  With that said, today was "Selection Monday" for the women's B-ball tourney and the Lady Vols (28-3) came away with the #1 seed in the Dayton Region (informally the "Midwestern" region.)

We'll face #16 Drake (14-18) on Sun. 3/18 and will likely go on to face the winner of the #8 Pittsburg (23-8)/#9 James Madison (27-5) on Wed. 3/21.

Other notables:

  • #1 seeds: Tennessee, Duke, North Carolina, and the Evil Empire themselves, UConn.
  • SEC Teams: LSU(3), Vanderbilt(2), and Georgia(3).
  • This'll be another relatively "simple" bracket to fill out, due to large parity between the top women's teams and everybody else.  The #1's ought to dominate, but a 2 or 3 could slip through.
Good luck to the ladies in the opening rounds and we'll be sure not to let you slip through on us!!
