Talking Points: Shaq's divorce, toilet paper, and trees edition

Yeah, so Shaquille O'Neal is divorcing Shaunie, but what's going on on Rocky Top?

Pick'em Working
Apparently you can't make your picks until after noon on the preceding Wednesday.

There are certainly some interesting match-ups...particularly Oregon's visit to Michigan.  I think UM will still have last week on their minds, whether they admit it or not.  0-2 in Ann Arbor.  Uh oh.

Has anyone else
ever bought a pay per view game?

I hear that they are about 30 bucks.

I have never looked into buying one until this week, but 30 bucks????  That is insane.  I can't believe that some cable company can't scrape together enough sponsors to broadcast a game around Tennessee for free when I am already paying a buttload for cable TV.  30 Dollars????  Please.  I thought maybe 10 or 15.

Redonkdiculous
I've given into the PPV powers in season's past.

What sucks even worse is that I shell out the additional $20/mo for HD capability and the PPV chanels aren't even broadcast in HD!

My justification to myself (and to the wife) is that it's still cheaper than actually attending the game! ($40 for ticket, $10 for parking, $10 for food/beverage, etc.)  Plus there's that whole time/traffic thing that you can avoid while viewing at home.  I've also been able to distribute the cost amongst neighbors/friends if you're a real tightwad, err...if you're very thrifty like me!

Plus, there's no/minimal time-delay with PPV, so you can actually listen to the Vol Network on the radio while watching the tube instead of hearing what happened 5 seconds before you see it.
