What's a buckeye?
A buckeye in Ohio must be really something...

Anywhere else, it's just a worthless nut!

Ain't it good to be alive and be in Tennessee!

End the debate
I'm REALLY hoping that this year's dominance of the SEC over the BIG TELEVEN in bowl games (shame on you Florida!) will end this ridiculous debate over which conference is better.

Ohio State is 0-9 against the SEC in bowl games and they are the best team in that conference, or at least have been.

Speaks volumes, don't you think?

I hope people across the country will finally accept the truth. No PAC-10, no BIG TELEVEN, no BIG EAST, no nobody. Just the SEC. Hands down, without a doubt, no argument, no question the best conference, head and shoulders, in the nation.

Nuff said!

Can somebody please get Fulmer to promote Jim Bob?

No way
If the debate ends, then there will no longer be a need for these-there interwebs!  :)

Good point
OK then. Let the opinion war continue. Just as long as BIG TELEVEN and PAC-10 people understand that their opinion is wrong.

They're welcome to it, they just don't have much argument, at all.

Can somebody please get Fulmer to promote Jim Bob?

The 1970 game between Alabama and USC has been heralded by many (usually Trojan fans) as the contest which lead to the integration of Crimson Tide football. It's nonsense, of course, but that hasn't stopped that version of the story from spreading by West Coast revisionists.

One reasons Tennessee fans should be disappointed with this sloppy telling of history is that it almost completely discounts a historic game involving the Vols a year earlier.

In 1969, Lester McClain and Jackie Walker (pictured above) started in the Third Saturday in October game and broke the color line at Birmingham's Legion Field (a third black player, Andy Bennett, got into the game as well). Not only that, the Vols handed Bear Bryant's Tide team a 41-14 beatdown that afternoon.

I tell a bit of the tale at Roll Bama Roll today in my scathing review of a book about the 1970 Alabama vs. USC game, One Night, Two Teams.
