We have reason...for hope.
Yeah, I know cheesy title, but being as this is my first post, I wanted to make a statement.
Annnnyways, I am a longtime reader and first time poster. I have had my moments this season where I have said some things I wish I had not said about the men at the top (eg. "Clawson, Fulmer, Chavis, fire them now! NOW NOW NOW!). It has been justified a bit by the struggles we have had, BUT:
We finally have a SERVICABLE QB, people always said that the first 6 games would be the hard part, and our D has been ballin the first few games (the last 7 minutes of the UCLA game and the first half of UGA not included)
I'm not defending the bad times this year, we should, in my mind, be AT LEAST 4-2 right now, if not better. However, we can't cry. Looking at the rest of our sked, there is only one game I cant see us winning. That, of course, is the Sabanators. After that, I see us going undefeated, maybe.
I'm not gonna say that Fulmer is the best coach ever. We might need a new coach. However, at least the man isn't like Majors and blaming things on everyone but himself.
So, as I said, we have reason for hope.

Heya. Thanks for posting!
The season has certainly been rough, but there certainly is reason to look forward to the upcoming games. Take the next game, for example:
MSU is a team with a good defense and zero offense. That’s what MSU has been for several years, and there’s nothing in the program that suggests things will change. On Saturday, they will still be a team with a good defense and zero offense.
UT is also a team with a good defense and zero offense. The difference is that there are reasons to expect changes. The defense will still be strong; despite our protestations against the eternal Mustang, the overall D is still the same unit that is keeping UT in the game. With Colquitt back, the special teams have improved. He’s getting almost 5 seconds of hangtime in his punts; that extra second allows the coverage to gain about 8 yards on the returner, which will probably prove to be the margin between a fair catch and a potential game-breaking return.
Lastly, the offense is changing. Defenses have adjusted to a run-only offense, which is why the runnning game is stagnant. But Stephens appears to be workable as a QB, and MSU will have to account for him until he proves otherwise. If Nick can continue to avoid the bad play and keep the game manageable, the offense should gain some momentum.
This season’s a reboot. There are a lot of reasons for it, but at least one was totally unforeseeable. Nobody could have seen the game-time collapse of Crompton coming. The guy is money in practice and did very well in backup duty in previous years. You can’t blame the coaches for expecting Crompton to work out.
I’m with you. Let’s get a W against MSU, continue to dial the O in, move forward and forget the past.

Welcome, mastershake77. Thanks for the post.
And when the thing whirs and groans and locks up, just hold the button for five and try again. Reboot: it’s the answer to most of life’s problems.
Go Vols!
