Hamilton said finances won’t be an issue if a change is made. He said there is a $7 million reserve in place to cover such unforeseen expenses. That would nearly cover the cost of the football coaches’ buyouts, which Hamilton said could be over $7.5 million. That figure depends on whether coaches are hired elsewhere.
UT also will receive an extra $15 million from the SEC’s new deal with television partner ESPN, which would give UT more flexibility to fire and hire coaches.

The reserve fund is news to me.
When postulating about the buyout as a prohibitive factor against firing Fulmer, I didn’t realize that the University had money laid up for this kind of purpose already.
However, I don’t think UT would prefer to use the ESPN money in this fashion when most other SEC schools will use their money on facilities enhancements, recruiting expenses, booster amenities, advertising funding, etc.
But again, whatever decision is made, let’s make a decision to something, not from something.

Honestly...
It sounds to me like the decision has already been made the way that reads.
I just hope that if that’s the case that the transition can happen with less acrimony than the transition from Majors to Fulmer went.

I wonder if you're right
That’s a huge move for Hamilton, who’s been saying (every year, it seems) that he’ll wait until the end of the year to evaluate the coach.
