Jackson the Mule says . . .

. . . hmm. Pay per view. How much do I get?

Well what do you know, I won this week's Hail Mary Haiku with another effort produced by procrastination:

We’ve got apathy.
Yes we do. We’ve got apa-
thy. What about you?

Speaking of first...

I’m getting ready for the game tonight by watching GT / Clemson. Three first downs in 20 minutes sounds about right.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 12:50 PM EDT up reply actions

No Kidding

Clemson has thrown 4 interceptions and lost 1 fumble. Let this be a lesson to everyone who thinks we should fire Coach Fulmer midseason.

by rblakeh on Oct 18, 2008 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Hrm

Well, they are winning now, so just ignore my previous comment :)

Still, ugly, ugly football.

by rblakeh on Oct 18, 2008 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually

This entire morning slate of games(1) is pretty nasty. Vandy / UGA may be the saving grace of the early afternoon.

(1) I can’t see TTU / TAMU, which should be entertaining from the look of things.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions

That hurts.

We should all be Clemson fans for the rest of the season. If the interim HC does a terrific job with the team, it’ll be hard for the AD to search elsewhere. He’s reportedly very popular with the players, and this season is now an “interview” of sorts.

If UT does end up coach-searching, it’d be nice to not have Clemson competing with us.

by David Hooper on Oct 18, 2008 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions

But

Look at WVU, popularity != coaching.

by wvvol on Oct 18, 2008 6:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Clemson will compete with UT?

I doubt it; the expectations are similar, but UT has way more in the experience / facilities / recruiting pipeline than Clemson does.

And might I suggest Brian Kelly make a trip down I-75 to check those out, if UT ends up coach-searching.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldn't sell Clemson too short.

I agree that UT is a better overall spot, but Clemson has a lot of appeal as well.

by David Hooper on Oct 18, 2008 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not selling Clemson short

It’s just that there’s a lot at Tennessee has to offer that Clemson doesn’t. If that wasn’t the case, we wouldn’t be so disappointed. :)

I. hate. John. Parker. Wilson.

And it's not like

There’s another close game on TV. Buckeye is wrecking Michigan State, and I’m not watching a minute more of ACC football than I have to. So I’m stuck watching Wilson throw ducks while Ole Miss implodes. Awesome.

I guess this is prep for tonight.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 4:54 PM EDT up reply actions

USC is throat-stomping Wazzu, too.

Up 41-0 at the half and were still throwing, going for it on 4th last time I looked.

Yeah, I was just assuming the USC game was a blowout.

For some reason I get that game here – and I don’t get Oklahoma / Kansas, which looks like it could be good.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Michigan at Penn St

Great game so far! Michigan is whoopin’ ’em.

by rblakeh on Oct 18, 2008 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, I just switched over to that.

I’m a little surprised at how that game has gone.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Michigan needs to score more

If Michigan is up by 17 at halftime, they will almost certainly win. Anything less and I think they are fairly likely to lose. Penn St (probably) got caught looking ahead to Ohio St. They should be a different team in the 2nd half.

We’ll see how it plays out though.

by rblakeh on Oct 18, 2008 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not sure of that

I mean, now they’re only up three so I suspect it was fun while it lasted, but they could’ve had a shot with being up 10.

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 5:56 PM EDT up reply actions

So, Ole Miss:

Is anyone surprised they’re still hanging tough? (I’m not, but I’m curious.)

by Chris Pendley on Oct 18, 2008 6:21 PM EDT reply actions

skeert

I hate this feeling. I hate that I’m this uncomfortable minutes before kickoff against f’ing Croom. I would like this feeling to go away, and I would like for the football to make that happen.

Anybody know who it was

that ruined Ward’s NC call, the one where he says, “The National Champion is clad . . . in Big Orange.” Somebody tried to fill in the ellipses for him.

The radio announcers just said

Whoever screws up the least in the second half will win the game. I mean, they’re right and all, but that’s a little depressing, isn’t it?

Those SC QBs need a lot of swords

They get dirty when you fall on them. Need fresh for next time.

It's really interesting

how different plays work with different RBs. hardesty can’t run Foster’s edge play, and Foster would have been tackled from behind on that nice gain by Hardesty.

Just go with University of Spoiled Children. Works like a charm.
