Extra tickets nothing new...

Everywhere I go on the Volunteer internets, I'm seeing people having a freakout about the fact that there have been tickets available for the game this Saturday through the UT ticket office.

People may not realize it, but this is nothing new.  The ticket office does this for virtually every game.  Most of the time, they don't publicize it.

It is different, however, that the student allotment was not fully utilized for a game vs. Alabama.  It's not entirely surprising, though, with this season's results plus the new payment system.  Until there are no more students on the Hill who ever got free football tickets, having to pay for them will always seem like a crime rather than business as usual.

I used to try to sell some tickets on the street before the games to make a few bucks.  I distinctly remember the ticket office selling me tickets during game week to the Auburn, Alabama, and Notre Dame games in 2004.

Availability of tickets for this game this weekend has no relevance to whatever state of disarray our football program may be in.  Trust me.
