I don't know about you
but I really was looking forward to not playing Alabama again this week. I guess you can’t always get what you want.
Ha!
Yeah, that would not be good. Although, that would make two games for them this week, so, you know, maybe it would be all right.
Thanks for catching that.

I never thought I'd say this, but...
Thank god we got Florida out of the way early. I don’t even want to think what that game would’ve looked like once they got their legs under them.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 1, 2008 6:47 PM EDT up reply actions
And you can say that again, too
Same rules apply.

True dat.
But I also think that Joel was onto something when he said that UGA was overrated at the beginning of the season.
They’re a very good team, but they haven’t been great. That close game against Spurrier isn’t quite as foreboding.
You can say that again
But please don’t.

Wow
When did we get to the point where there’s national television coverage of a NASCAR practice?
It’s practice.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Nov 1, 2008 6:58 PM EDT reply actions
Are you channeling Allen Iverson?
Although I’m really wondering who would be watching NASCAR practice who wasn’t watching college football. I’ve got to think there’s a demographic overlap.

Why?
Why are the SC fans waving napkins?

Coverage not too bad
But there were a lot of gaps between players running down the field trying to tackle the guy.

Haven't they run the first three plays to his side?

Hey, that's what a passing play looks like!
And who’s that guy? Taylor? Wasn’t he a big deal last year?
Like that first play
27-yarder, Stephens to Taylor. Cool.

That looked like they didn’t give Stephens a play.

At this point I have to think the problem's on the sidelines somewhere
Because the OC forgetting to call a play just blows my mind.

What happened?
I’m still searching for online coverage. Got the audio now, but I missed the reason for a timeout.
Stephens . . .
. . . was looking at the sideline waiting for the play. At least that’s how it looked. Both hands, palms uplifted.

It almost seems as if he’s upset at what the offense he’s been thrust into but as the new guy thinks he needs to tiptoe about with criticism. His frustration is beginning to show, though, and I think that might be a good thing.

Little surprise there.
3rd and 10 is an obvious passing down, and they knew where Stephens would be.
I'm a little put out
that Spurrier finally realized Garcia’s better than Smelley. MUCH rather be defending him.

Fulmer's man-love obsession with crompton is sick
i don’t like to see our players fail, but . . .
Eh, I guess I can kind of see the idea behind it
The idea is horribly flawed and doomed to failure, but I see the idea at least. I’m a little surprised that wasn’t called a fumble. That would’ve been the only way to be a more spectacular fail.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 1, 2008 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions
Coaches know way more about football than me. I give them lots of benefit of doubt.
But Fulmer better explain the decision to pull Stephens after the game. He owes the fans that much.

Oh, so now Creer has fumbled
And he’ll never see the field again, either? Notwithstanding the alternatives?

Quick kick on first down
Hope for Berry to get six interceptions before the game is out.

Whether it was a fumble
It was.

I'd put Crompton back in
Have him hand off to Creer.
Go Vols!

Stephens, I mean
Shoot. It’s catching.
Go Vols!

"Do we continue to go with Crompton?"
I will rip your tie off with my mind from where I sit, Bob Davie, if you keep that up and mean it seriously.
If you haven't started drinking, start doing doubles.
Crompton’s in, and you need to see the field like he does.

Hey, lawvol
Welcome to the baffle zone.
Go Vols!

I feel so bad for the defense
It’s like they’re in a potato sack race with an amputee for a partner.

Lack of grit
He can’t play. Lacks leadership.

missed the first few minutes
but the score and rusty’s comment pretty much tell me what I need to know…

lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
If you've missed it
The key to the game is that Stephens threw a pick six and Fulmer yanked him immediately for Crompton like he was just waiting, hoping for him to make a mistake. Folks not happy.

Hey, I have an idea!
Bet everyone knows what it is!

paint yourself blue and run around naked in the yard?
oh, no that was my idea, sorry

Oh, no
I can’t believe I have the Fulmerizer pointed at hooper. The world is coming to an end.

Night will break into day
Even if that day is the day after Crompton wastes his eligibility. And yes, wastes is the right word.

Oh, the day will come
We’re just in Alaska right now.

Announcers talking politics now
Normally that’s sacrilege, but I’ll take any distraction right now.

I hear it’s supposed to be good.

Can Chattanooga get some love?
B.J. Coleman has plenty of hand off experience.
This is comically bad

That's one way to get yards
Get the defender to tackle you by throwing you three yards down the field.
YAT. Yards after tackle.

That's another way
Throw into triple coverage, have it bounce off into the tailback five yards away from the tip and run through the chaos for 15.

Someone tell Crompton
to quit staring at his receivers….again
and being statuesque
although someone came in unblocked there.

Maybe
Line play is so bad that we could Phil Fulmer himself in there and get about the same quarterback play.

At this point
Screw it. Stare ’em down some more, totally miss the blitz.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 1, 2008 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions
At this point, how bad is it
That I’m rooting for Crompton to fail spectacularly? This is kind of me wanting to rub Fulmer’s nose in it.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 1, 2008 8:32 PM EDT up reply actions
Virtually all of me is pulling for a win
but I’m not so terribly upset as I normally would be because Fulmer does deserve to get his face rubbed in the poo poo pile.
Cannons... fire them.
www.BucEm.com - SBNation's home for discussion of all things regarding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Maybe I should clarify
I really, really want to see a comeback. However, if Fulmer thinks it’s going to happen with Crompton under center he’s out of his mind, hence rubbing his nose in that.
by Chris Pendley on Nov 1, 2008 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions
Agree completely
I don’t understand this at all. One bad throw from Nick and we’re cursed with City of Crompton again. Sigh.

What did Stevens do or say
for us to deserve this?

Did he get into it with somebody on the sideline?
That’s the only other thing I can think of.

Looks like he's been rolling with
George Hamilton
By the way
Yardages/ / plays on drives since Crompton came in:
3 / -2
1 / 0
3 / 7
5 / 21
1 / -1
Let’s keep him in! He’ll lead Tennessee to the promised land!
And yes, I'm more than a little pissed right now
If anyone’s curious.
