Lots of SEC reviews on the day so far

The Ole Miss game had quite a few as well.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:04 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

SEC is the best

in the ranking of worst referees. These guys suck. All of them.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:04 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The guys reffing the UM/MSU game beg to differ

At least they didn’t flagrantly misinterpret the rules resulting in a TD.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:06 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They must not have been true SEC officials

Probably had to bring in some high school refs.

That “Hands to the face” call that nullified a Tebow interception was pathetic. That crap happens 10 times every game and is never called.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:32 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It wasn't ripped off.

It was pushed off. There’s a difference.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:35 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

True, but:

My point was that if someone’s helmet comes off they’re going to be way more likely to call a penalty than if the infraction’s committed anyway, but the helmet doesn’t come off. if that makes sense.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Note:

This applies to the game as a whole.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:10 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Let me guess:

That “shot” would be a .22 round through the TV, right?

;-)

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:16 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nah, I like my TV

.22 round through the TV stand. ;)

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I hope you stocked up.

You might also consider ways to cool the barrel down. There’s probably a risk of overheating in this one.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:29 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

This just in:

Wyoming is rolling 28-3 over SDSU in the 3rd.

(Hey, I gotta prop by alma when I can. It’s not very common.)

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:15 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Can we score 28 points?

Hate to get embarrassed at homecoming

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:27 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I’m not sure Wyoming has scored 28 points total this season prior to this game.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:29 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Well, it's 35 now

So I guess that doubles their output?

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:30 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Half again.

They had 70 total points in the previous 8 games.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:32 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Speaking of Wyoming:

One of the local radio shows yesterday (Tony Basilio, IIRC) mentioned that Fulmer would be a great fit at Wyoming, assuming he leaves Tennessee. Something about it being a program he could really build up.

I get the feeling they don’t understand what Wyoming is.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:43 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I have a feeling local radio doesn't understand Fulmer's legacy

It’d be weird as hell to see him anywhere else, even with the current Tennessee situation.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:47 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'll give this much:

The announcers are doing a good job of actually analyzing the game. It’s kinda nice, actually.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:34 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, I love when Verne says

“I thought he should have gone to Massaquoi there.”

Thanks, Coach!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:36 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

This crew is normally pretty good when they're not doing Tennessee games

I thought Blackledge was going to bludgeon Fulmer after the 3rd quarter of the Auburn game. He was getting pissed.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 4:40 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No way in Hell is that a TD

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:38 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think so either.

But it certainly is a 1st, which will nearly be the same thing.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow.

I agree it wasn’t a TD, but I was certain it was a 1st.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:40 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Still goes in the "blown call" column

I’m keeping track. I’ve had to sharpen my pencil twice.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:40 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They missed that blow to the head on Massaquoi

by Private Right.

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:48 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hey!

This game may be exciting! Is that legal in the SEC?

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:52 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Is it just me

or does Matthew Stafford kind of look like that kid from Life Goes On?

by ChattVol on Nov 1, 2008 4:53 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Gary Danielson has a higher regard for Stafford

than I. “The only QB in college who could make that throw?”

Bad throw to the TE in the end zone. That was a bad throw not a bad route.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 4:53 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He's not the only QB in college who can make any throw.

60% 1900 yards 12 TDs 5 Ints aren’t record breaking numbers.

That’s what I was referring to. Gary makes him sound like Troy Aikman or something.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 5:00 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yes, but why disrupt the love for Stafford with stats?

He has such a good arm! Look at how strong he overthrows his receivers! It’s totally their fault, not his.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 5:02 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Exactly, spoken by an ex-QB.

Get Darrell Stingley in the booth to talk about great passers.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 5:06 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Point taken.

Still, he’s thrown twice as many touchdowns this year as our QBs combined (career numbers). I will concede the point that he is overhyped. I’d still trade for him.

by ChattVol on Nov 1, 2008 5:06 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You think he could throw for that many TDs behind our offensive line?

I beg to differ. No one can throw with a sweaty DE on his back.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 5:09 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Stafford can!

And Tebow can circumsize under the same conditions!

…what?…

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 5:11 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

True, but....

Can Tebow overcircumcize by 20 yards like Stafford can?

Wait, don’t answer that.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 5:15 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Plus you know they would want Berry in trade.

NO DEAL!

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 5:13 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ok.

Now the announcers are analyzing a little too much.

Some of their stuff is getting really nit-picky.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 4:53 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Would the Vols

throw 5 wide inside the 20?

by ChattVol on Nov 1, 2008 4:57 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Whoah. That wasn't even a doink.

More like thud. Square on.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 1, 2008 4:57 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow.

Oregon and Cal are in a dogfight for the country’s ugliest uniforms.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 5:08 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I have an idea.

If UT doesn’t get a bowl bid, we could always invite the Wolverines down to Neyland for a game.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 5:14 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Heh.

It would at least answer the question: If an SEC and Big 11 team play – each with a 3-9ish record – would anybody care?

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 5:15 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Would Indiana - Mississippi State be the undercard?

We could probably get Purdue and Auburn to join, too.

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 5:17 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

To which game?

I don’t think either coach in the IU / MSU game is in danger. And Tiller’s retired at the end of the year anyway.

Also, shot!

by Graysnail on Nov 1, 2008 5:20 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Receiver ran a bad route and the sun got in his eyes

Plus global warming has been weighing on his mind. It’s not his fault! He’s great, I tell you.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 5:40 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

More great officiating

No sir, my shirt wrapped itself around his hand. He didn’t grab me.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Nov 1, 2008 5:55 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hmmm...

Florida players leading their crowd in celebrations with an injured Bulldog on the field.

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 6:29 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wyoming 35, SDSU 10

Wyoming had over 500 yards of offense with only 10 pass attempts (6 completions).

Granted, it was against a very bad SDSU at Laramie (7200 feet altitude) in November, but it still smells of a ball-control game next week. 50 offensive plays each team?

by hooper on Nov 1, 2008 6:33 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ouch

Damn, that hurts. It hurts deep.
