An int returned to the 13
The offense goes backward and misses a field goal.
I feel your pain, Michigan.
More orange in the stands than I thought
I bet these are the people who bought tickets back in August and told their kids they were going to the game no matter what.
Or the Nashville residents
who haven’t made it to a game this year and felt obligated because the Vols were playing so close to home.

I didn't see it, but...
Was there a lot of orange at the MTSU game last night?

If it's the place
Where they have the TSSAA basketball championships, that place is deceptively big

Yay
Raycom is finally in HD. It has been for other teams for a while, but I’ve yet to see a UT game in HD when Raycom is broadcasting.
Until they stop
I’ll keep saying it:
I don’t mind the music videos, but put players in them instead of the artists. Not why we’re tuning in, y’all.

Best comment by an announcer, ever.
“Eric Berry will thump you if you come into his area. The problem for Vanderbilt is, his area is the entire football field.”
Do you think Moore's offensive production
will seep into voters’ heads when making their Jim Thorpe pick for DBs?
That looked familiar
Can’t wait to watch Texas Tech tonight with my Christmas wish list.

You were saying?
Crompton INT, Vandy penalty.
I flip over and Beanie Wells TD run.

I will always picture them as Nigel Tufnel
Spinal Tap’s “this one goes to 11” with a blank, gum-chewing stare. Like a cow looking at a new gate. Yes, I’ve used that before, but that’s exactly what it looks like.

Meh
I would hate a rule that makes the ball live if the ball hits an unsuspecting player. Almost as much as I hate the rule that if you fumble out the back of your opponents endzone, it is their ball.
I agree on the fumble out of the end zone rule...
… but I don’t have a problem with the other one.

Nice
Local commercial. Folks on the back of a train throwing candy out to kids alongside the tracks, then onto the tracks as they leave. It’s a train parade.
Brought to you by a local law firm. Personal injury almost certainly. Drumming up their own business?
Has your loved one been run over by a train while chasing candy from strangers?

Quick Comment Poll:
Independent of what you think will happen in the OSU-Michgain game, would you rather:
A) Michigan win, kicking OSU to the minor-league curb in bowl games.
B) OSU win, making it much easier for Tennessee to not match their record on the season.
A, I suppose.
Why not give Tennessee a lofty goal on the season? ;-)

I hope the defense doesn't get rigor mortis
they aint used to be off the field very long.
by wvvol on Nov 22, 2008 1:02 PM EST reply actions 1 recs
So the sequence is:
Coleman handoff
Berry slant run
Berry sweep
Coleman pressured
illegal formation
timeout.
I think it’s safe to say the problem wasn’t simply the QB
Warren is trying to think of a relative in Tallahassee who could get sick.

So they show Cannon's midnight run,
but they leave a huge graphic over half the screen in the process.
Nice
I think he could do that
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Nov 22, 2008 1:06 PM EST up reply actions
But it's the best thing ever to happen to Berry.
NFL teams are too smart to let the offense’s disappointment count against the defense on draft day. That basically assures us that Berry won’t get taken by Detroit or Oakland once he’s eligible.
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:08 PM EST up reply actions
No
I’m assuming that Detroit and Oakland don’t scout beyond ESPN’s SportCenter. UT won’t be on their map for a while next season.
Unless we get Leach…

I was hoping he had some eligibility. We could use him as QB next year.
Or would he be too “quirky”?
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:11 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
But according to Griffith
He runs a gimmick offense and would not fit in at Tennessee, but is probably regal enough
He will see the tape in a few weeks...
… but hopefully the new coach is game-planning in Norman right now…

Speaking of running backs
how far off is Foster from the rushing record
"Ramon Foster again moving people out of the way," One of the Daves says.
That’s the 2nd time this year he’s done that.
Somewhere
Mike Leach is vomiting.

Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Nov 22, 2008 1:15 PM EST up reply actions
My kind of football
I would love to see Leach here, but if a coach could guarantee that we could win every game without passing, I’d take him in a heartbeat.
I wouldn't mind him, personally.
But in his first year at GTech, I can’t consider him as available.
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:16 PM EST up reply actions
Hmm!
Nice first down by Coleman on a designed QB draw. Woo.

Another nice run, but...
…QBs don’t last very long taking hits like that over and over.
Lou Brock loves Lamp.
We've only got two games left
Hopefully they aren’t too concerned about saving anything at this point.
If "the Papa" is calling all x-Gun formations,
Shouldn’t we call them Pop-Guns?
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:17 PM EST reply actions 1 recs
Still
If you’re giving me the QB who’s slow out of the huddle vs. the QB who throws interceptions, I’ll take the former. Hopefully we’ve seen the very, very last of Crompton.
The game plan is:
Get Vandy to stack 11 in the box. Then we can pass once in a while and hope for a 50% completion rate. :-D
It was a condensation of one of my favorite Broncos jokes.
I’m a Denver fan in my Sunday life.
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:19 PM EST up reply actions
Timeout?
Can’t Fulmer just turn off Clawson’s headset and call the plays so we can save a timeout or two?
TD, Hardesty
Wooo.
Hey, that was actually a really nice drive.

by Joel Hollingsworth on Nov 22, 2008 1:19 PM EST reply actions
The announcer needs to give credit to the right block
It looked like Cottam was the one who sealed the line
Coleman still at zero series at QB.
He was a fullback in that one, not a quarterback. I’m calling a technicality on it!
Methinks you'll regret that
on his 3rd series of the day.
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:26 PM EST up reply actions
Forward thinking
So, getting ahead of myself here…
Let’s assume that we win, and win big, with like 10,000 rushing yards.
Who here is going to be annoyed that we haven’t a single-wing all year? Two of our three qbs are built more like fullbacks anyway.
I mean, this offensive product looks nice.
If we get 10,000 rushing yards
I’d say Fulmer gets a contract extension.

Quote: Joh Chavis's defense is gonna throw a lot of stuff at ya."
Like:
+ 10-yard corner cushion
+ 10-yard deep LBs
+ 4-man rush
+ pray for Berry to INT
I can actually hear that!
Thanks!

I think our problem is passing
When we just run, we look great. When we start passing, the O-Line looks confused, and then continue to look confused for a while.

Double Good
6 points.
Plus, Berry says he “hates” pick sixes, because he has to go back out on the field.
So now he’s angry!!!!
Ok, UT. Do NOT pass the ball for the rest of the game.
That way Berry is guaranteed to leave with the lead in INTs.
BJ Coleman
did the run the option in high school
I don't think I care at this point.
Let Creer and Hardesty run the option. We don’t need passes.

I think our gameplan for the season should have been...
Put Crompton in for a few minutes and let him suck it up, then bring in the new guy to fire up the team!
Ah, I’m kidding. I don’t mean to pile on the guy.
If you get bored, here's an inane trick for you.
If a lot of the comments are still in the new-comment orange, make sure the cursor isn’t active in a comment window and hold down the “c” key.

Seriously. Is it me, or does it just seem like every time we have some success, we revert to old stuff thinking that maybe, just maybe it will work this time.

What I love most about our secondary
Any time the ball hits the ground, there is at least one guy mad at himself for not getting the interception, no matter how far away from the ball he is.
