Jackson the Mule says . . .

. . . Joel forgot the haiku. Negative point for him.

Negative point for me indeed for completely forgetting to post this week's Hail Mary Haiku. Boo for me.

Joel forgot his post,
but we can still write bad poems,
even without it.

Am I cool now? ;-)

Today

I shall root for Michigan. Nice INT. I think I could have made that one.

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 12:13 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

An int returned to the 13

The offense goes backward and misses a field goal.

I feel your pain, Michigan.

More orange in the stands than I thought

I bet these are the people who bought tickets back in August and told their kids they were going to the game no matter what.

by Will on Nov 22, 2008 12:23 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Or the Nashville residents

who haven’t made it to a game this year and felt obligated because the Vols were playing so close to home.

I didn't see it, but...

Was there a lot of orange at the MTSU game last night?

by Will on Nov 22, 2008 12:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

11,000

I think is the number I heard. Not sure the capacity of the arena.

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 12:26 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That place holds 11,000?

Seriously?

It looked like a high school gym.

If it's the place

Where they have the TSSAA basketball championships, that place is deceptively big

by Will on Nov 22, 2008 12:29 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I'm wrong

Just over 11,000 is the full capacity of the arena. I read it wrong.

So, I’m not sure how many UT fans were there.

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 12:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yay

Raycom is finally in HD. It has been for other teams for a while, but I’ve yet to see a UT game in HD when Raycom is broadcasting.

Until they stop

I’ll keep saying it:

I don’t mind the music videos, but put players in them instead of the artists. Not why we’re tuning in, y’all.

Go Vols!

Agreed

I hate Kentucky

They let that fool D.J. Moore tie Eric Berry in INTS.

Best comment by an announcer, ever.

“Eric Berry will thump you if you come into his area. The problem for Vanderbilt is, his area is the entire football field.”

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 12:34 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Do you think Moore's offensive production

will seep into voters’ heads when making their Jim Thorpe pick for DBs?

by ChattVol on Nov 22, 2008 12:35 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

LOL

Vandy fans went “oooohhhh!” when they tackled Rogan at the 30.

I will always picture them as Nigel Tufnel

Spinal Tap’s “this one goes to 11” with a blank, gum-chewing stare. Like a cow looking at a new gate. Yes, I’ve used that before, but that’s exactly what it looks like.

Meh

I would hate a rule that makes the ball live if the ball hits an unsuspecting player. Almost as much as I hate the rule that if you fumble out the back of your opponents endzone, it is their ball.

Nice

Local commercial. Folks on the back of a train throwing candy out to kids alongside the tracks, then onto the tracks as they leave. It’s a train parade.

Brought to you by a local law firm. Personal injury almost certainly. Drumming up their own business?

Has your loved one been run over by a train while chasing candy from strangers?

Quick Comment Poll:

Independent of what you think will happen in the OSU-Michgain game, would you rather:

A) Michigan win, kicking OSU to the minor-league curb in bowl games.

B) OSU win, making it much easier for Tennessee to not match their record on the season.

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 12:51 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

A

It would be like an early Christmas present. Or Heidi Klum calling me up to come over and hang out.

they aint used to be off the field very long.

So the sequence is:

Coleman handoff

Berry slant run

Berry sweep

Coleman pressured

illegal formation

timeout.

Our D is too good

to deserve this season

by ChattVol on Nov 22, 2008 1:07 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

But it's the best thing ever to happen to Berry.

NFL teams are too smart to let the offense’s disappointment count against the defense on draft day. That basically assures us that Berry won’t get taken by Detroit or Oakland once he’s eligible.

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

:(

Are you assuming at that our offense will be teh suck again next year?

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 1:10 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

No

I’m assuming that Detroit and Oakland don’t scout beyond ESPN’s SportCenter. UT won’t be on their map for a while next season.

Unless we get Leach…

Still

If you’re giving me the QB who’s slow out of the huddle vs. the QB who throws interceptions, I’ll take the former. Hopefully we’ve seen the very, very last of Crompton.

The game plan is:

Get Vandy to stack 11 in the box. Then we can pass once in a while and hope for a 50% completion rate. :-D

Coleman still at zero series at QB.

He was a fullback in that one, not a quarterback. I’m calling a technicality on it!

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:21 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Forward thinking

So, getting ahead of myself here…

Let’s assume that we win, and win big, with like 10,000 rushing yards.

Who here is going to be annoyed that we haven’t a single-wing all year? Two of our three qbs are built more like fullbacks anyway.

I mean, this offensive product looks nice.

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 1:22 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

So now he’s angry!!!!

Ok, UT. Do NOT pass the ball for the rest of the game.

That way Berry is guaranteed to leave with the lead in INTs.

BJ Coleman

did the run the option in high school

by ChattVol on Nov 22, 2008 1:44 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think I care at this point.

Let Creer and Hardesty run the option. We don’t need passes.

My Chatt pride taking over, I suppose

Eric Berry is a "bell cow?"

Huh. Pretty fast and limber for a bell cow.

Go Vols!

I think our gameplan for the season should have been...

Put Crompton in for a few minutes and let him suck it up, then bring in the new guy to fire up the team!

Ah, I’m kidding. I don’t mean to pile on the guy.

Helpful hint to Vandy DC

We ALWAYS run out of the *-Gun.

Yeah, talk some smack, Commodores...

Good luck scoring 17 points.

If you get bored, here's an inane trick for you.

If a lot of the comments are still in the new-comment orange, make sure the cursor isn’t active in a comment window and hold down the “c” key.

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:49 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Sigh

Seriously. Is it me, or does it just seem like every time we have some success, we revert to old stuff thinking that maybe, just maybe it will work this time.

Go Vols!

Yeah

It’s like some people’s politics, but I won’t say who :)

Damn

Nice try.

Colquitt dinked it

Didn’t seem like he really kicked through the ball.

I wonder if he was thinking the same thing I was

What [is he] [am I] doing out here?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 22, 2008 1:52 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That's in the past.

He’s been dry ever since the last infraction.

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

No.

He’s had multiple press conferences over the last year where he’s stated as such.

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Is he a moron?

Would he really say “Yeah, I’m drunk right now” in a press conference?

by wvvol on Nov 22, 2008 1:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I'm with hooper

Why pile on? Why not take him at his word? What’s it to us?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 22, 2008 1:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Well,

it’s moot to the game right now.

Truce? :-D

by Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 1:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

I think Fulmer said they would use him for 40+ after the Alabama game.

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 1:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I know

But looking up at the t.v. and seeing him lining up for a FG was still weird to see.

Go Vols!

New QB

meet Eric Berry (soon, I hope).

by rblakeh on Nov 22, 2008 1:52 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

What I love most about our secondary

Any time the ball hits the ground, there is at least one guy mad at himself for not getting the interception, no matter how far away from the ball he is.
