Anybody going to be in town for the game this weekend?
Not too many people I know will be in town given the holiday. But I will be because I'm, like, a real fan or something.
Pre-game beers?
This thing says my fan post needs to be at least 75 words, so here is a quote from the forward Phillip Fulmer wrote in Ray Glier's How to Be a Volunteer:
I'm not just passing through here. I'm not looking for my next job. This is my dream job, and this is my home. I told Vicki, my wife, when we were first married not to buy drapes for the house because I didn't know how long we would be here. I was a coach, and in this profession, things can happen. This was in 1981.
We've been here 26 years. Finally, we bought drapes.
My awesome girlfriend bought me that book for my birthday. I hope to get an afternoon with it soon.

Heh.

That gets very funny when you replace: it her
(Sorry, just misread it while skimming and found that very funny.)
Seriously though
I’ll be in town. I’m not going to the game, but I could be persuaded for a meeting somewhere if things work out. I teetotall, but I don’t mind responsible consumption by others.
Cool, how about lunch somewhere?

Dang
Gus’s Good Time Deli still open? The burgers are pretty good, but the fries were like crack when I was there.

Yeah it's open
Nyro’s Gyro’s next to what was Sawyer’s is pretty good too. They make a pretty mean burger, but probably not as good as Gus’s
Sawyer's closed?
Wow, that didn’t take long.

Gus's at 1 p.m.?
I’m open to other suggestions if that doesn’t work for y’all.
You can email me at rusty.tanton@gmail.com if you’d like to trade cell phone numbers or work out any other logistics that shouldn’t be posted publicly.

Rusty
You going to be Twitterin’ or textin’ or anything from the game?
Go Vols!

I certainly can Twitter
If my reception isn’t too crappy I can probably even post a photo here or there to Twitpic.

Hmm
If I can figure out a way (do you know of one?) to post your Twitter feed in the open thread, would you mind?

Sure thing
I’ll look around today at the various widgets. Can you embed Javascript in posts?

Second idea:
Send updates to Joel / hooper / someone and have them post it.

Beers?
Heck, if we’re going for beers before the game…how about the half barrel? Yes, it’s a bit on the unrefined side, but it is fun and has a great selection! But seriously, let’s send these guys out with reckless abandon!

Where's the half barrell?
I’m certainly down for some beers after lunch. The game isn’t until 6:30.

Oh, and as long as the <21 types can get in, that’d be ok. (I can’t remember; I’ve only been in there once.)

I called
They’re open from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. every day. I’ll call later today to find out if 1) they allow people under 21 in, and 2) if they’re going to open earlier on game day.

doh
This isn’t going to work I don’t think. They said they’re probably not going to open until 3:30 or 4 on Saturday, and they don’t allow people under 21 in there.
Maybe Buffalo Wild Wing?

From what I remember
Half-Barrel has a bouncer outside checking ID at all times.

As weird as it sounds
Mellow Mushroom has a surprisingly good beer selection, and if you get there early enough, you should be able to score semi-decent seats, since it’s far enough away from the central drag that people don’t stumble over there until later.

I'm not averse to Mellow Mushroom
We have them here too, and you can always do worse than pizza.
Mellow Mushroom at 1:30 p.m. (not just to Graysnail, but to whoever wants to show up…hooper, rblakeh, et al)?

Oh, I'm not in Knoxville this weekend
I was just thinking of places.

That's probably a good idea.
I should be able to make it, but I’ll certainly let you know if I can’t. (There’s still a nonzero possibility of it not working out on my end.) But the ’Shroom is a great meeting place.
Whoever gets there first, be sure to request a table with a good view of TVs. :-D

I'm travelling from McMinnville, TN tomorrow
I’ll do my best to get there in time… I love me some Mellow Mushroom.
