RTT Tennessee Volunteers Head Football Coach Search, Round 1
Here we go with the fourth vote to determine the fans' preferred choice for a head coach. Note that this poll will close on Friday at noon, even though a new one will not open. Fair is fair, and 24 hours is 24 hours. The next vote-off will begin on Monday at 7:00 AM, and the voting rounds will resume throughout the week.
In the final vote-off of the first round of potential head coaches for UT, I now submit to you:
TORNADO ALLEY

Tulsa has not beaten a BCS opponent in like the last 18 tries. No thanks.

Why not Chavis?
Why not make the Def. Coord. Head Coach? As far as I know, he’s always done a tremendous job! In lieu of that, I think Leech from TxTech combined with Chavis would be brutal…

Chavis has made statements that suggest he has no interest in being Fulmer’s successor. If I were to guess, I think Chavis want to get a fresh start somewhere else, either as a DC or a head coach. I don’t have the links handy, but those statements were the reason I didn’t include Chavis in the list.
If Chavis did stay, though, it would really help with continuity of the Tennessee “family” that is so important to the players and many of the recruits.

Also
This is basically fantasy coach-picking. Why bother with locals? :)

I also heard retirement talk a couple of years back
It’s possible he might decide fishing is more fun than a fresh start.

This last week notwithstanding,
I’m sure every coach has that feeling from time to time. I know I would.

Who would be best
Consider the best hire in the SEC in the last decade. Who was that, and where was he from? Urban Meyer, from the University of Utah. Hire Gary Patterson, the head coach at TCU, and Tennessee will have the best hire when we look back years from now. I remember people snickering about Meyer’s hire, from the MWC. Patterson coaches in the MWC. He has taken a private school to heights they had never imagined. Tennessee should carefully consider the best hire in the MWC in the last decade when it makes this very, very important decision which will affect the program for years to come.
