I really suck at this

The above was supposed to be a reply to Graysnail.

Confession time:

Who actually is getting this game on PPV? I’m listening online, but I’m trying to figure out who’s not on a delay this time around.

by Graysnail on Nov 8, 2008 12:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Not I

Listening online as well.

by Aerobab on Nov 8, 2008 12:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Me

Yep. Me. I’m watching on PPV.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 8, 2008 12:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Well, that's one

Assuming Directv actually . . . oh, wait. There it is. They actually put it through. Amazing.

Go Vols!

Hey, if nobody watches the game it doesn't actually take up any bandwidth

There are enough randomly entertaining games on to keep my eyes entertained, at least.

by Graysnail on Nov 8, 2008 1:01 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Got it on GamePlan.

Anybody believe the point spread?

Vols by 24.5?!?! For serious?!

by Aerobab on Nov 8, 2008 12:48 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I had no idea.

That’s what, 3 defensive TDs and a couple of field goals, right?

by Graysnail on Nov 8, 2008 12:49 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Haha

Didn’t think of it that way, but I suppose!

by Aerobab on Nov 8, 2008 12:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Heavy winds today

Sounds like a great reason to keep the ball on the ground. Wonder if this’ll only be a 2 1/2 hour game.

by Graysnail on Nov 8, 2008 12:50 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Wyoming’s uniforms sound pretty cool.

by rblakeh on Nov 8, 2008 1:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Creer is the starter?

Playing for the future, or did Arian Foster do something wrong? No fumble jokes please :)

by rblakeh on Nov 8, 2008 1:09 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Hey, I've got a great idea

Now that the season’s a total wash, why don’t we try something that might actually work like starting Lennon Creer!

What’s that? We ARE?

Crap stephens

We have more batted balls than anyone else.

Someone who knows more than me:

Who is to blame for this (usually)… the O-Line or the QB?

by rblakeh on Nov 8, 2008 1:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think that that one

was both. He was in the QB’s face, I think, so (1) he shouldn’t have been there, and (2) Stephens shouldn’t have thrown it right into his extended hands.

If it’s at the line, I think that’s the line’s fault primarily.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 8, 2008 1:14 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

It depends

The O-line needs to make sure the D-line isn’t in a position to bat the ball down, and the QB needs to get it to a spot where the D-line can’t get a hand on it.

by Graysnail on Nov 8, 2008 1:14 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

hooper denies any knowledge of anyone picking Wyoming in a rout. He may be kicking himself now, though, after that WY pick and subsequent TD.

Go Vols!

Fitting, somehow.

I don’t believe him, for the record. :)

Either that, or...

…we get to see J-Cromp in the next series. Or did NS actually try to make a play?

by Aerobab on Nov 8, 2008 1:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It

It will be interesting to see how UT fares with having 1 back in for the entire game. I’m sure Poole will come in some, but for the most part we will be riding Creer.

Maybe it will allow the back and the O-line to develop a rhythm? Maybe not.

by rblakeh on Nov 8, 2008 1:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

True

That will be interesting to watch.

He said that the RB . . .

. . . should not have spun at the line of scrimmage on a short-yardage attempt for 1st down. He’s probably right about that generally, but hey, 1st down!

by Joel on Nov 8, 2008 1:39 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ahhhh

Great time for play action, so let’s run an empty backfield!

by rblakeh on Nov 8, 2008 1:37 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

By the way

For those of you not watching — it might sound like Poole’s running much better than Creer, but to me it looked more like better blocking.

Those watching, agree or disagree?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 8, 2008 1:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Poole Looks Good

Yeah I think Poole looks a little better, but the blocking is a lot better today. My question is where is Clawson’s offense!? We haven’t really seen it all year, but I figured maybe we would today with Fulmer leaving and all. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t see anything new and improved at all…

UT: 17
Opp: 70

by Aerobab on Nov 8, 2008 2:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

To make matters worse

We usually receive the ball to start the 2nd half. We were outscored today in the first half, and we had the ball first.

Discuss

How surprised should we be with Stephen’s 2 first half interceptions? He’s thrown a lot of balls this year that “could have been” intercepted, and they just weren’t. So was he just a ticking time bomb?

I for one am surprised. This doesn’t seem like him.

by rblakeh on Nov 8, 2008 2:16 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Hamilton's halftime interview

1. Been a tough week.
2. Attendance poor, everybody in shock?
3. Want to honor Fulmer in the right way, partially in his discretion how we do that.
4. Hard to replace Fulmer, you can’t, have hired a search firm, lots of experience, take our intiial list of candidates, vet them, determine buyouts, interest, etc.
5. What type of coach? Leadership, salesman, integrity, good X&O, evaluator of talent, appreciates TN history.
6. Will need a national recruiter.
7. Timetable: critical to get right person, but do want to move quickly, but more important to get the right guy.
8. If we get to a bowl, will be Fulmer’s choice.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 8, 2008 2:20 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

b/c the defender was in the way and not even looking at the ball. Right call, I think.

Go Vols!

The announcers

think it was a bad call, for what it’s worth

Go Vols!

by Joel on Nov 8, 2008 3:20 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

When the announcer said that it may have been uncatchable, so no intereference

I came up with a really good zinger.

“Crompton can’t even get pass interference right.”

I’m glad I couldn’t use it though!

I almost had a heart attack

“Crompton pass” and “deflected” are not words you want to hear in the same sentence.

Two badly thrown balls in a row

stalls the drive. The second was catchable, though, I think.

Go Vols!

Upon further review

Catchable. A bit too hard, but probably should have been caught by Moore.

Go Vols!

And Daniel Lincoln can't make field goals, Bob.

That’s probably why they went for it.

I had no idea

that passing beyond the LOS was reviewable.

Cheers, Crompton.

I'm not even frustrated or mad.

Just sad for our players and our program.

I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday.

Worst loss in UT history

I don’t how anyone can say Mike Hamilton didn’t do the right thing, now. Maybe not renewing some scholarships next year is in order, too.

In my mind it is.

Wyoming is not very good, not at all.

Hamilton

I wonder if Hamilton regrets firing Fulmer last week when he could have done it this week with much less criticism.

What is Coach Leach's number?

Look I’d up for me please. I’m calling personally to see if he would coach the Vols by phone the next two games.

Congrats to Wyoming, and Hooper

They played to win, and got the victory.

As for Tennessee… well… not what I hoped for.

Sorry I missed the open thread

Was commiserating at a bar with a couple of other UT fans. And an Arkansas fan. And a Michigan fan. It was quite a collection of losers.

Wow, indeed.

I’m sure the Michigan fans were amused to finally have won a game. Quite a year when all 3 teams will have losing records.

SO Glad I did not pay $300 for this nightmare.

Did you know that Comcast charges commercial establishments $300 or more for each pay-per-view event? There is a formula they use based on seating capacity. It used to be $5 for every seat. This season is hurting their commercial sales this year because a lot of bars in the Chattanooga area did not carry the game this week. I did discover that it is possible to transport a box from one location to the other for the purposes of getting the game on a tv that is not at your house.

The amount of pay-per-view games has risen sharply from 1-2 per year to now 3-4 per year. It’s getting ridiculous.
