Monte Kiffin Wanting More Money From UT? | MrSEC.com
Yikes. Whatever it takes, you know, but my first thought is one of my favorite lessons from law school: pigs get fed, and hogs get slaughtered. There's a down side to bargaining harder and longer than you should.

That saying's common in business
I’m gonna slaughter me the next pig who says that.

On the other hand, it's not often you see the interviewee wield so much power.
Monte Kiffin is coming from a >$2mil/year job in the NFL where nobody would even think of terminating him in the next few years. He’s giving that up for a job that absolutely cannot pay as much or more – the usual standard for a transfer like this – and the concept of coaching with his son is clearly not so important that he can’t turn it down. It’s really an odd spot for Mike Hamilton, especially since everybody figures that Monte is part of the deal.
It’s a rather tight leash that Monte has on the negotiations.
