That honestly doesn't surprise me.
Kiffin seems to have a very clear idea what he wants, and I think he’s not going to compromise. Boyd should be quite successful wherever he goes, and I’m glad that Kiffin gave him a chance to find a better fit.
It’s tough, because I always prefer to have all commitments honored. But still, it’s good to let Boyd know that his football interests are probably best found elsewhere now, rather than waiting until after he faxes in his LOI to tell him that there’s no scholarship available.

We don't need him.
We got Jonathan Crompton.

Yay!
Woo!
As an aside, I’m going to flush this year out of my system when next year comes up. If Kiffin does go with Crompton, I’ll wait until we see the on-field results. Maybe Kiffin’s system will be simple enough for Crompton to keep up with. After all, if Leinart could do it…

Ace in the hole?
Matt Barkley? Aaron Murray?
I don’t think he tells Tajh his services aren’t needed (aka won’t fit) without having someone else in mind.

I was wondering that too.
But I’m afraid to go down that road too far without something to lean on. All we know right now is that he (evidently) advised Boyd that other schools would be more in his interest.

Yeah, I'm sure he was just trying to be a nice guy :)
He’s got something up his sleeve, even if it is that he thinks he can resurrect Crompton. An athlete like Tajh is a guy you want on the field, period… even if you have to slightly adjust your offense for a season and bring someone better the next year.

Man, I hope you're right.
That’s all I’m going to say about this.

If nothing else
I think it will earn him some cred with the other recruits. If he says you’ll fit, then you’ll fit.
Kiffin is giving everyone on the team a fresh start, so I will, too. If it’s Crompton, it’s Crompton. He was highly ranked coming out of HS, so maybe he just needs the right system. Or maybe it will be someone else.
September is too far away.

It is, but....
I’m not a naturally optimistic person. :) I’m a bit concerned about this – not the decommitting as much as afraid to see what the pattern is. I’m an engineer by trade; I need patterns and data points.

Kudos to Kiffin for being honest with Boyd.
That can only help his reputation.
I hate Music City Miracles!
