  • needs nine three-pointers to move into 6th; not going to happen this game
  • is averaging 3.43 threes per game on the season
  • assuming there are 14 games left in the season (eight regular season and six post season), needs to average 4.71 threes per game

Go Vols! Hulk smash Hogs!

Not that I'm the expert,
but Steven Hill is listed as a Center, not a Guard.  (Though I'd be absolutely terrified to see the 7-footer who can effectively play guard.  Yowza.)

Hmm
Caught. Teach me to just grab the info without looking at it.

But who knows? Maybe he's really got moves and ball skills?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Feb 13, 2008 7:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Oh, let's hope not.
For the sake of our team, let's hope he can't play guard.

(Or center, for that matter.)  ;)

Refs
No Ted Valentine!  Got a former Braves catcher though.

Vols attacking the inside
The early strategy seems to be to attack Arkansas's strength and try to take it away.  How Rove-ian.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

BruceBall!!
Hulk has the boys ready to play tonight!  Some pretty good inside play early on and some stought-D!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

What exactly is
"partially" blocked?

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Definition
Not sure if you are serious or facicious...but here goes, if you're serious:

Tipped or just slightly redirected that alters the shot trajectory.  Not a full-blown "rejection".

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:23 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I was trying to be facetious
but shame on me for not making it clearer.  "Partial" block sounds to me much like "sorta" pregnant.  It might not be a block that completely reverses the direction of the ball, but it's still a block, right?

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:28 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not sure
I don't know how the scoring works.  One would think all or none though.

It may also help if I learn to spell "facetious".

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

no matter on the spelling
the internet is way too fast of an environment to get hung up on it.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:47 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Issues
My computer is being abnormally slow this evening.  Sorry for late/intermitent posting.

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:21 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

The hogs have the knack
of delaying their jump until our defender is in the air.  That makes it a virtually guaranteed foul call.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:29 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I like the inside play
it tends to draw fouls on the interior defenders.  It's worth doing so long as we have a lead.  It might provide dividends at the end if their big guys are in foul trouble.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

#51
I thought I've matured as an adult and become more accepting of others who are different than me.

But Lord, I just want to punch #51 right in the face!  He ranks just below JJ Reddick, Jimmy Clausen, Teddy Dupay, and Matt Walsh on my list.

Oh, AND GET A HAIRCUT, TOO!!!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

That haircut is the archetypical look
that makes Northerners think Southerners are unsophisticated.  It might not be fair, but that's the image they have in mind.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He was hoping
our defender would jump.  Nice patience.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:32 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

keep the fouls coming
that could spell doom in the second half

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

New Strategy
Brian Williams just dove into the Arky bench to save a ball.  Perhaps it was 'strategery' to inflict pain on those not even playing?!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:43 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Arkansas is flustered
which just makes it easier for UT to control the tempo.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:44 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yay
Welsh is a starter.  3 fouls, 2 to go.

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:46 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Vols gonna score
more this half than the whole LSU game.  Much better.

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 8:47 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

good point
really good point

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 8:47 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I'll save all my good stuff
for when you get back. :)  But hurry!

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 8:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

WHAT?!
Who leaves the Vols for their spouse?!?!

:)

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 8:58 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wow...
UT's FTs are 13-15 with just 1:00 left in the 1st.  Impressive!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 9:00 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Good stuff
Great game at the half, UT leads 43-38.

I can't do the fancy-schmancy table-o-stats like Joel can, so we'll just operate at a loss this evening.

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 9:04 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

You posted the most important stat
43-38.  Let's keep it going, Men!

MONEY!
Juan drains a 3, and T. Smith gets the OOBTO, bucket, and the foul!

SRSLY?
Did the announcer really just say that Arky needed "a few 12-point plays"?!!

Isn't that what UK needed last night vs. Vandy?!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 9:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

12 point play might come in handy
Maybe let a team use it 3 times a season. I'm listening to the stream from utsports.com. No love for the Vols up here.

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 9:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ok, back
(And yes, it was worth leaving the Vols for the wife.  One has far greater potential to harm me.)

But as good as they've done, maybe I should stay gone.

BLOCK!
Chism just said "NO, SIR!!"

Howdy, folks
Back from practice.

Somebody give me a nutshell.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Feb 13, 2008 9:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Nutshell
Both teams playing well.

Refs are calling a tight, yet fair game, with both teams racking up the fouls.

Lofton is struggling, Jujuan picking up the slack.

Our Bigs (Chism, Crews, Williams) are playing a
HUGE role down in the paint on both sides of the ball.

All in all, a VASTLY different team that what we saw Saturday.

Good job w/ the stats. I'm retiring.
Go Vols!

by Joel on Feb 13, 2008 9:41 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Retirement denied!
Beginner's luck, Sir.

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 9:44 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Has Lofton . . .
. . . really only tried two 3s and missed them both?
Go Vols!

by Joel on Feb 13, 2008 9:43 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

You know
I think it's time that JuJuan gets some serious consideration for MVP. I think he's the most consistently valuable guy we have.
Go Vols!

Like I said
That three was actually looking for the basket!

Woo! Juanny!
Go Vols!

by Joel on Feb 13, 2008 9:49 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Bring out the Air Force
JuJuan just nailed his 6th 3-ball of the game!  Oh yeah...he's only shot 6 times from behind the arc!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 9:50 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

24/31
77% from the Free Throw line.  Lot better than 4/15.

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 9:57 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yep
That's the type of effort that'll win championships!

H-AIR BALL!
Get a haircut!

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 10:06 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Crap
I coulda been watching the game on espn360. Oh well, I'd have probably jinxed them.

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 10:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Who's that?
Never, ever seen that guy. Oh, Muholland. Hi, nice to meet you.

Apparently a crowd favorite.

Go Vols!

And who's that?
Never seen him before, either. Well, nice to meet you, too.
Go Vols!

Excellent!
Another home victory!  93-71 in an all around great showing!  Congrats, men!

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 10:13 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Exactly
great way to rebound from the LSU game. I love this team!

by wvvol on Feb 13, 2008 10:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nice game
It's nice to have a break and an easy second half after the LSU game (guys) and the Rutgers game (gals).

Jackson
By the way, have I said anything about how much I look forward to Jackson the mule's pre-game quote?!

A new RTT mascot in the making?

by Aerobab on Feb 13, 2008 10:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I hope so
That mule knows what he's talking about.  Does he play Defensive End, by any chance?  Does he have any eligibility left?

by Hooper on Feb 13, 2008 10:25 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Speakin of Mules*
LSU beat the Gators in Gainesville pretty handily.
