DILEMMA: ARE YOU PULLING FOR THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS OR THE MEMPHIS TIGERS TONIGHT?

So who are you rooting for in tonight's NCAA championship game? I'm torn.

On the one hand, I'd love to further explore the theme already identified by GetOffMyVols -- that if Memphis won, there is some consolation in the fact that we were 4-1 against the last three national champs. We swept Florida two years ago, split with them last year, and beat the Tigers each of the last two years. That would also lead to some interesting questions about why we haven't done better in the Tournament. And let's be honest, we're gonna need some stuff to talk about. It's a long summer.

On the other hand, have you seen the YouTube comments on the Pearlfection video? Sheesh, I don't know if I can root for them.

My bracket's no help because I have neither Kansas nor Memphis in the final two. So where does that leave us? Root for Memphis? For Kansas? Against Memphis?

What do y'all think?

By the way, head over to Rock Chalk Talk, SB Nation's Kansas blog and live vicariously!

Don't sweat YouTube comments
Joel, YouTube is a weird, weird place. It's where everyone who wasn't on the Internet in 2002 finally had their eureka moment and started to leave comments at the exact same time. Sometimes it's fun in a train wreck way, but much more often it just makes me want to take a wrecking ball to all of humanity.

Interesting Thought
Interesting...my mom watched our youngin' yesterday and thought to entertain the squirt by plugging "Disney" into the Youtubes.  She was appalled when multiple pr0n videos were displayed in the search results.

Torn
I'm sort of with GetOffMyVols...but then that would mean we'd have to listen about John Calimari's NC.  However, I would also get some great satisfaction in knowing that the Vols were solely responsible for ruining perfection.  But then again, I'd still have to listed to Calimari.

(flips coin)

Heads...Looks like I'm rooting for Kansas.

Memphis is in Tennessee
There's being a die hard fan, like we are, then there's being completely near sighted. Would you pull for a fellow SEC team like Florida or LSU to win national championships? I did.

I admit, living in Memphis makes it a little easier, but the fact remains this is a team from our great state.

All this talk about, well, we beat them is useless. Who cares? No one wants to know anything about the team that came in second place, much less a team that got bounced in the Sweet 16.

Think of it this way. If Memphis wins, they will talk about the Vols being the only team to beat them. If Kansas wins, we won't hear a word about it.

Do we really want to deal with Calipari
when he wins the NC?

Seriously?

Can't do it.  Won't even watch the game.

Go Vols!

Really torn
I have a strong dislike for all things Memphis (I'm looking at you Elvis!)  Okay, well maybe just Memphis State, but we did beat them, on their home court, so that makes the Vols look good.  But man I hate their coach and  Joey Dorsey and ...

Looks like I'm cheering for Kansas.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Butler?! We don't need no stinkin' Butler!

Well, I assume this is the game thread, FWIW.
I'm finding this to be a very productive time, actually.  I suppose I can thank UT for helping me with my academic success by not interfering with good study time.  ;)

Oh, and it's a tight game so far.  Good for ratings, I'm sure.

33-28 halftime. Thoughts, you ask?
Sure!  Kansas is shooting better, and Memphis has to be mildly concerned about Dosier, Taggart, and Dorsey all having 2 fouls.  A quick fouls by any (or multiple) of these three could cause tentativeness defensively.

KU has 8 bench points to Memphis' 0.  KU is also outrebounding UM 17 to 11 (6 to 4 offensive, 11 to 7 defensive).

Somehow, when the experts all went on about how wonderful these defenses were, it never occurred to them that those same defense just might stifle the scoring a bit.  We're not at the 90-89 pace everybody kept talking about, despite having two very potent offenses on the floor.

OT it is.
I guess they didn't feel like going back to school quite yet.

"Free throws? Free throws?
We talkin' 'bout free throws?"  ESPN's going to be talking about free throws for a while.  Coach Cal better hope Tiger misses the cut this weekend to take some heat off his team.
