Best Plays of 2007: the Championship
Okay, then. The final has been fixed, and we didn't even need to disturb the Great Mule. Big Dan Got Mad Ups goes up against The Kentucky Denouement, which broke the tie with Gerald Jones' Woodwork this morning.
So here are your finalists:

Change of heart
I don’t think I’ve voted for The Kentucky Denouement through the entire tournament because I thought it was more a symbol of the entire game than a single play deserving of elevation over other, more spectacular plays. But now that it’s made it this far, knocking off several other plays in the same game, I’m throwing my weight behind it. It’s effectively gobbled up all of the other great plays in that game, so it might as well finish the job.
Go Vols!

Not me.
The greatness of TDK was due to the plays that happened before it – including Big Dan. When you look closely at the Big Dan play, you do see that the block was due to the last UK blocker guessing inside rather than outside. That was what they always teach you – block the interior guy before the exterior guy. It turned out to be the wrong guess because the interior guy was sufficiently contained, but Big Dan still had to sprint the distance.
I’ll be quite happy with either one, but the BDGMU play was more spectacular to me than TDK.

Just noticed
If you pause at the 17-second mark on the Kentucky Denouement, you’ll see that Woodson had an open receiver. It would have been a 7-8 yard pass to a guy 1 yard deep in the end zone and the defender wouldn’t have been able to get around in time.
He couldn’t get the pass off for one reason: he ran into a blocker. He had to hold the ball down and his vision was screened for a split second. UT was that close to going to one more overtime.
In a sense, we owe that play to a right guard who a) was not needed on the double team, b) inadvertently ran interference on his own QB, and c) missed on the block against the guy who tackled Woodson. He was doing his job, but the play just backfired against him in every way imaginable. Yikes.

I like BDGMU
How often do we block a field goal? How often does one of our DTs block a FG? Besides that, if The Incredible Running Berry hadn’t almost had his head ripped clean off, he probably would’ve taken that to the house, which would’ve ended the game and added to his already ridiculously infamous infamy. And we would have no Denoument.
I don’t know. They’re both pretty good and important to the outcome of the season. But I gotta go with Big Dan blockin a FG. Wow.
I've got something for you young man. Ooohh, it's...Thaa Claawww! Oh, you're afraid of The Claw!!
