10 best games in Tennessee history

Dave Hooker has published his list of the Top 10 games in Tennessee football history. Go check out his list and then come back.

Okay, now I haven't spent a lot of time on this, but here are my knee-jerk reactions:

  • 1927 Kentucky?
  • 1959 LSU?
  • Vanderbilt?

Okay, so I don't know anything about those games, but you'd think that I'd have heard something about them. I mean, I didn't see the Miracle at South Bend or the Sugar Vols, either, but I've heard enough about them to know they were great, history-making games.

And what about these?

  • 2001 LSU
  • 2003 Alabama
  • ?? Arkansas (5OT game?)
  • 2005 Vanderbilt (kidding!)

Jerk your knee below.

Being a newcomer

One of my favorites has been 2007 Kentucky, both teams kept coming up with play after play we just happened to outlast ‘em.

For some reason . . .

. . . I didn’t even consider that, but you’re right, that was a classic and could stand the test of time. I know it’ll always have a special place in my cold little heart b/c of that Tradition video I made of it. That was fun.

ALL BAMA GAMES

I guess all the Bama Games are my favorite, I can’t remember the year, but I think the game Dale Jones intercepted the ball being only 3 feet from the QB and the game Peyton Manning started the game with a Touchdown pass on the first play are two of my favorites.

2001 LSU??? I bet you’re thinking 2005.

If you haven’t heard about the 1959 LSU game or “The Stop”, then you ought to brush up on your Vol history a bit.

You're right . . .

2005 LSU. The Rally in the Valley.

And can I brush up on my Vol history by just asking you?

Do tell. ;-)

deanpat92 has been Fulmerized

The Fulmerizer says:

Humble pie

I would really like to talk some junk on this post but seeing as how y’all have beatin’ the $&#! out of us the last two years I think I’ll keep quiet. However any game in which y’all beat [UF Sissies] or USuCk is one of my favorites.

Go Vols!

Yeah, getting whipped will have that effect on you

Believe us, we know. If and when we beat Florida, I’ll either have so much smack piled up that unleashing it will rival the midwest floods or I’ll just be so relieved that I’ll just sit and smile.

Go Vols!

Apology

Sorry for the inappropriate language. I’ll be more careful next time.
I understand how you feel about beating Florida. It was such a nice change to beat them this year. I didn’t go off on any rants but I got a lot of satisfaction from looking at UF blogs and reading their excuses. In case any of you weren’t aware Tebow was hurt that game or UF would have killed us.
Anyway, again sorry for poor language.

No worries

That’s why we have the Fulmerizer. I actually take it out on the town every once in awhile just for kicks.

Yeah, I remember that Tebow was hurt, but you guys put on a fantastic show. I remember Doug from Hey Jenny Slater saying something after the Tennessee-Georgia game about how Richt’s stoicism was both bane and boon and it was mostly bane for Tennessee. When he broke out of that mold with the team celebration thing, that was masterful.

I’m hoping Fulmer will do something like it at just the right time this year. Maybe ride a Harley through the T to start the game?

Go Vols!

Wow.

ZZ Rocky Top.

The images that conjures up:

Josh McNeil: Gimme all your lovin’.

Eric Berry: He’s got legs, ...

The list goes on.
