QB Josh Nunes' GPA is higher than your forty time

QB Josh Nunes has committed to Tennessee. He's a four-star guy according to both Rivals and Scout, and he's pocketed offers from the elite on both ends of the spectrum: Florida and Harvard.

Dude's got a wicked 4.6 GPA. High five!

Interesting commit,

For those of us without subscriptions, why did he commit to UT even though he’s never been to Knoxville?

Oh, and can he play DT? ;)

From the hoss's mouth:
The decision-making has been going on for a couple of weeks. The last three days I have been thinking real hard about things. We were coming home from camp at Stanford, and the more I talked about things the more I knew Tennessee was the right choice. I have a great relationship with coach Clawson and with coach Fulmer. The program and those guys fit me. It’s great to wake up knowing where you are going to school and that you have made the right choice.

. . . .

As I said, I am really comfortable with everyone I have met or talked to there. There are at least 30 reasons why Tennessee is the right fit. It’s the SEC and Tennessee is a powerhouse school in the best conference. I am looking forward to playing for a national championship there. Coach Clawson is a really likeable guy. He is one of those guys who is going to get things going. You know he is going to put in the work. He has been on me for a while now about getting out there to see them. I wanted to, but some things have come up to prevent that and he was really understanding about my situation and about the whole process. His understanding of things with me really helped create the comfort level with him.

. . . .

I have talked to people and I have done a ton of research. I know it can’t be a bad place and I know I have made the right choice for me. I can’t wait to see it. It’s just an unbelievable feeling that really I can’t describe. But to have a college home is not just a relief, but it’s exciting.

Go Vols!

Thanks.

I understand the subscription system, but I’m from Wyoming and have just a little too much survivalist in my background for it.

That's got to be it

Just how does one get a 4.6 GPA anyway?

In many high schools, advanced courses get weighted GPAs.

In mine, for example, an “Advanced” course gave a 4.5 for an A, a 3.5 for a B, and a 2.0 for a C. An “Honors” course gave a 5.0 for an A, a 4.0 for a B, and a 2.0 for a C. I don’t feel like looking it up, but I my GPA was above 4.0 in that system as well. Most colleges will un-weight the GPAs back to a rigid 4.0 scale and his transcript probably shows that GPA on it as well.

But at any rate, this means he took a lot of hard classes and got a lot of As in them. To me, that says “smart, hard worker, cares about doing his best”. I’ll take that.

Taking a * ton AP and Honors classes in High school. I had a 4.5 out of HS (I would’ve had a 4.6 if it wasn’t for me screwing up my midterm in AP US History by oversleeping and going to class half way through…. *mumbles.

BTW a 4.6 IS ING AMAZING GOOD, so congrats on getting such a highly educated QB.

In other words, Go Bears!

Sounds like a Keeper

Here is some more on him. ESPN claims him as the top performer at the Elite 11 camp he most recently attended. And the 4.6 GPA should help him decipher the mystery offense of The Claw.

Thanks for that link

Makes me wonder why he’s not a 5-star guy.

Go Vols!

As Hooper mentioned, none of the RTT uniform design entries went with the black shirts and orange pants, like we saw against that team coached by Spurrier this past weekend.

So I gave it a very quick stab. One thing I couldn't figure out in the short amount of time I took to do this was how to get the "T" on the helmet when designing your own helmet. Others had done it in the contest...I couldn't figure it out.
