Interesting tidbits on UCLA
The focus of the article is on Harwell, a UCLA D-tackle with a rough life story and a great outlook on the future. Definitely worth the read.
But this was also buried within the article:
"Belief doesn't typify much of the UCLA fan base, which was apparently unmoved by a Los Angeles Times advertisement that proclaimed in block letters, "The football monopoly in Los Angeles is officially over" over a picture of a pointing Neuheisel. Only 65,000 fans are expected Monday in the Rose Bowl (capacity 91,500)."

Wow
That’s pitiful for such a big game. New coach, national prime time TV. Nice message to recruits, if that’s the case.
Go Vols!

They have some work to do, for sure.
I just wish I knew how that compared to previous years. UCLA will get there, I believe, but it’ll take work. I like the personal turnaround that Neuheisel seems to have made, and Chow has always struck me as a good coach to have.

It is pitiful, but we’re talking UCLA. Their fan base is all bandwagon-jumper fairweather fans. BEAT FUCLA!!!

UCLA s not in session for three more weeks. Not a lot of students to attend the game.
Of course SEC football is special but we are not also-rans. We certainly are not fairweather fans either. Is so we would be on USC’c bandwagon. Please do not confuse the two schools because they are in the same city. That is an insult.

But all you L.A. schools look the same to us. ;)
In all seriousness, the Rose Bowl holds 91,000. There were a fair number of students present, but the attendance was closer to 65,000 (I don’t know the “announced” figure, or the actual figure). That leaves something in the neighborhood of 25,000 empty seats, which can’t entirely be explained by a lack of students. I’d agree that the students were a part of it, but it still leaves a lot of empty seats unexplained.
Either way, your attendance will be significantly up for the next game.
