Be of good cheer, brothers and sisters

Because as GIGGITY just showed us all….anything can happen. And will. A lot.

Nice pic.

I’m seriously happy for Nutt. I’ve always had a lot of respect for him (Arkansas is not an easy SEC place to coach and succeed). I think Ole Miss will become a great fit for him.

It was ugly

out here. They ran him out. I want to see him clean Arkansas’s clock quite honestly

Our offense

Needs to let our defense win.

by bobo_the_vol on Sep 27, 2008 5:15 PM EDT reply actions

Clock-rule watch.

30 plays for UT, 35 for Auburn. That’s on pace for 130 for the game – not a whole lot.

The 3rd quarter MUST count.

by David Hooper on Sep 27, 2008 5:17 PM EDT reply actions

Less plays work in Crompton's favor

Less chance for missed handoffs or overthrown passes

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Sep 27, 2008 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions

If they deferred at the toss

they’d be stupid to take the ball. They’ll get better field position by kicking off.

Deferring is for p_ssies. Make a decision!

by wvvol on Sep 27, 2008 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions

I still think the UT offense is really close to clicking.

I don’t know if Crompton is simply a little mental twitch away from being really good, or if he’s gone forever. But the line is doing a great job, the receivers are doing well, and the running game is a go.

by David Hooper on Sep 27, 2008 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions

I believe Einstein's definition of insanity is applicable.

How long does it take to understand that Crompton’s not very good?

Nice defensive series there

Hopefully the offense has the same fire.

Go Vols!

by Joel Hollingsworth on Sep 27, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

Unfair criticism.

Burns was responding properly in the pocket. Martin simply beat his man cleanly.

by David Hooper on Sep 27, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

The announcers are getting overly negative.

They’re beginning to see things that aren’t there.

They also simultaneously criticized Crompton for his bad play while praising Auburn’s 3rd down defense. Reality is in-between, but you can’t claim both fully.

by David Hooper on Sep 27, 2008 5:25 PM EDT reply actions

I get the feeling the announcers wish they were working a different game. It’s showing.

by David Hooper on Sep 27, 2008 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I do too.

This game needs no announcers.

That one was on Clawson.

Auburn’s D is too good to get beat by that. That only works when the defense is aligned purely against the inside rush or if they’re too slow. Auburn was neither.

Play clock doesn't really hurt.

They have the ball on the Auburn 40 yard line.

Um, maybe

He’s not doing so well. Same problem we have w/ Gerald, I guess. He’s most likely going to run.

Re: QB switch.

Neither backup was prepared for this game. This was likely Crompton’s last stand and he was probably given the full week to prepare. Next week is Northern Illinois, so a QB switch is most likely to happen then.

Until then, enjoy the ride.

Crompton is the best QB we can field ? I find that very hard to believe. I’ve seen better from high school backups.
