Bad, bad argument
Great question…terrible argument. I understand what Mr. Pennington is trying to say, but each of his arguments is completely preposterous. CFB championships aren’t determined by the ages of the coach’s children, salaries of coaches, cost of facilities, "big star talent" density, success/failure of co-located schools, and/or conference affiliation. (Note: I’d be naive to state that none of these factors contribute to a school’s success, but I digress.) As the mantra states, if winners and losers were determined by the statbook and/or checkbook, then there would be no need to play the game. Honestly, how many of you picked Utah to obliterate Alabama? For that matter, who picked Ole Miss to upset Florida this year…in The Swamp? I think you get my point.
Yes, Coach Urbz has all the makings of a football dynasty in place…but that’s no guarantee for championships of any kind (conference division or otherwise). We’re all too aware of the events that take place over the course of a game, season, or a player’s 4-5 year career. Let’s just play the games and worry about the 2019 SEC Champion when we get there, ok?
