Nice job by Chism!

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:07 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice ball movement

on the opening possession

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:07 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yep

O rebounds looks like the game plan.

Go Vols!

Announcer Update:

He just said bondonkeydonk.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:09 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yes

yes, he did. Something right about including the word donkey.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:10 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hoping

Hopson has a break out game against his old state.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:09 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Somebody needs to get hot from 3

If we can’t keep them from sagging off, we are not going to be able to drive.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:14 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Anyone else wondering

if we’re going to see the Prince at the Point experiment again anytime soon?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:14 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm okay with

The “Bobby with the Ball” approach

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:16 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Our effort

on loose balls looks better tonight.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:16 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Chism

powered that one in

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:18 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah

Really nice catch and bucket by Chism.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:18 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Okay

No call on travelling —> offense foul.

Okay.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:19 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah

And I love that post-three smile, too.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:21 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

His form is great

but I think he puts to much arch on his shot and does not get a good shooter’s bounce.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:22 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I keep wondering

What is the rule about the defender actually going out of bounds to defend the in-bound pass? Can they . . . thanks, Jimmy. He just answer that question. Can’t break the plane. I think we do often, though.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:22 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

From what I've seen

If you don’t really mess with the pass it’s okay.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:23 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

30 year olds

And middle schoolers. Gotta question UK’s player tactics.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:24 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Better than expected start...

Gotta stay inside on offense and stay outside on defense.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:25 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agreed

It’s sorta looking like the team we thought we’d see.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:26 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Biggest danger right now

I think is a lapse in concentration. Young team.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:26 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Double Meeks off the screen

Make him pass. They can’t score more points if we make somebody else shoot.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:32 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Think about it though.

Meeks has been on fire.

3 point game.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:38 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Joel

Your first comment was some serious foreshadowing.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:43 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Thanks, but that's wvvol's

And he’s been on it for at least three games now. Whoever plays guard for the other team has a career night against our defense.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:44 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It was

They called Williams for the EXACT same thing earlier.

by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:51 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Maze

should never be beat off the dribble by Meeks.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:55 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Maze has a nasty habit

of using two hands when one would do. Gives the refs something to call.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:57 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Meeks,

already had him beat when they called the foul.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 9:59 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Saw some old there

Prince drives and . . . doesn’t shoot, but kicks out to Smith for a three. We’ve been doing a lot of driving but not much passing or kicking. It too often looks like we’re having problems recovering from the Pilot Rocky Top League.

More of that last thing we did, please.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 9:59 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the reason we have not seen more of that

is because we have no true 3 shooters. Our team does not seem selfish, they just don’t always make smart decisions.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 10:01 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

True

But they don’t pass to others inside, either, even on fast breaks. Not as much as they should.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 10:07 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice finish Men!

Is Billy Gillespie gay (not that there’s anything wrong with it)? Have u ever seen him with a girl? He seemed afraid of what’s-her-name (not Erin Andrews).

by wvvol on Jan 13, 2009 10:01 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

After half,

We know Bruce will be unafraid.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 10:13 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

But lots of shot attempts by UT.

I’ve been out all half, but that implies a good job on rebounds to me. How has their offensive rebounding game been?

by hooper on Jan 13, 2009 10:10 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Fear not.

General Neyland Maxim #1: The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

by ChattVol on Jan 13, 2009 10:13 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

5-14 from 3

4-8 from the line and only down by 4. Tighten that up and we should be good. Meeks has to get tired of shooting sometime.

by wvvol on Jan 13, 2009 10:10 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Usually, highly disparate shooting percentages tend to tighten up in the second half.

I don’t mean that UT will necessarily drain everything they chuck up, but you should see more balanced shot percentages. That’s the same thing that happened against Memphis last year.

I’d watch the rebounding hustle. UK will undoubtedly try to get more rebounds; will UT step up their efforts?

by hooper on Jan 13, 2009 10:12 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hey look

he missed one.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 10:24 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, yeah, we get it

The commentators just aren’t criticizing our defense enough…

by lawvol98 on Jan 13, 2009 10:24 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

But we let everyone put up career nights

I don’t think our defense could receive enough criticism.

by Vol Navy on Jan 13, 2009 10:25 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Oh, I know

Just tired of them beating the dead horse.

by lawvol98 on Jan 13, 2009 10:26 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow

Williams has an ugly shot…
but it went in

by lawvol98 on Jan 13, 2009 10:30 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think that both Meeks and Patterson

have still both played the entire game. GameTracker, anyway, says they both have 26 minutes. Perhaps fatigue could figure in?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 10:32 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I know it's Pat Summitt

But I still hate hate hate in-game interviews. Stop it.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 10:37 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm with you

It’s fine during a break, but not during the game

by lawvol98 on Jan 13, 2009 10:37 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They just talked through three minutes of game

about stuff besides the game.

And they’re not done.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 13, 2009 10:39 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Four minutes

Of course that part wasn’t really worth watching but still.

Go Vols!

Is our defense so bad because our offense can’t score except on offensive rebounds?

You know

you may have point there. I was thinking sort of the same thing, in a much less analytical and rational way (sigh…)
