Dude
We’re on the same wave length.

Yep
O rebounds looks like the game plan.

Yes
yes, he did. Something right about including the word donkey.

Hoping
Hopson has a break out game against his old state.
Go Vols!

Somebody needs to get hot from 3
If we can’t keep them from sagging off, we are not going to be able to drive.
Anyone else wondering
if we’re going to see the Prince at the Point experiment again anytime soon?
Go Vols!

I'm okay with
The “Bobby with the Ball” approach
by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:16 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah
Really nice catch and bucket by Chism.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:18 PM EST reply actions
Yeah, wow
That was a sweet three by Meeks. The net barely moved.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:19 PM EST reply actions
Chism playing like it's a big game
That’s a really good sign.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:19 PM EST reply actions
Yeah
And I love that post-three smile, too.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:21 PM EST up reply actions
His form is great
but I think he puts to much arch on his shot and does not get a good shooter’s bounce.
I keep wondering
What is the rule about the defender actually going out of bounds to defend the in-bound pass? Can they . . . thanks, Jimmy. He just answer that question. Can’t break the plane. I think we do often, though.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:22 PM EST reply actions
From what I've seen
If you don’t really mess with the pass it’s okay.
by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:23 PM EST up reply actions
Hey, it's the flex!
Welcome back!

30 year olds
And middle schoolers. Gotta question UK’s player tactics.
by bobo_the_vol on Jan 13, 2009 9:24 PM EST up reply actions
Agreed
It’s sorta looking like the team we thought we’d see.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:26 PM EST up reply actions
Biggest danger right now
I think is a lapse in concentration. Young team.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:26 PM EST up reply actions
Double Meeks off the screen
Make him pass. They can’t score more points if we make somebody else shoot.
We really, really, really miss JaJuan Smith
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:36 PM EST up reply actions
Good point
He is (was?) one of our toughest, most intimidating inside guys.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:38 PM EST up reply actions
Thanks, but that's wvvol's
And he’s been on it for at least three games now. Whoever plays guard for the other team has a career night against our defense.

It was
They called Williams for the EXACT same thing earlier.

Maze has a nasty habit
of using two hands when one would do. Gives the refs something to call.

So, I suppose I'm catching the abbreviated version tonight
You know, cut right to the second half, skip the preliminaries and all.
============
lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
Saw some old there
Prince drives and . . . doesn’t shoot, but kicks out to Smith for a three. We’ve been doing a lot of driving but not much passing or kicking. It too often looks like we’re having problems recovering from the Pilot Rocky Top League.
More of that last thing we did, please.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 9:59 PM EST reply actions
I think the reason we have not seen more of that
is because we have no true 3 shooters. Our team does not seem selfish, they just don’t always make smart decisions.
True
But they don’t pass to others inside, either, even on fast breaks. Not as much as they should.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 10:07 PM EST up reply actions
Well, they looked decent
A little ragged, but at least we’re in it.

lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
Nice finish Men!
Is Billy Gillespie gay (not that there’s anything wrong with it)? Have u ever seen him with a girl? He seemed afraid of what’s-her-name (not Erin Andrews).
Um, that's a lot of blue
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 10:08 PM EST up reply actions
But lots of shot attempts by UT.
I’ve been out all half, but that implies a good job on rebounds to me. How has their offensive rebounding game been?
by David Hooper on Jan 13, 2009 10:10 PM EST up reply actions
5-14 from 3
4-8 from the line and only down by 4. Tighten that up and we should be good. Meeks has to get tired of shooting sometime.
Meeks and Patterson
both played the entire half.
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 10:13 PM EST up reply actions
Usually, highly disparate shooting percentages tend to tighten up in the second half.
I don’t mean that UT will necessarily drain everything they chuck up, but you should see more balanced shot percentages. That’s the same thing that happened against Memphis last year.
I’d watch the rebounding hustle. UK will undoubtedly try to get more rebounds; will UT step up their efforts?
by David Hooper on Jan 13, 2009 10:12 PM EST up reply actions
"foar"
That’s redneck for “far”

============
lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
Yeah, yeah, we get it
The commentators just aren’t criticizing our defense enough…

lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
Oh, I know
Just tired of them beating the dead horse.
============
lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
Wow
Williams has an ugly shot…
but it went in
============
lawvol: Gate 21 - Life, the Universe, & the Bounce of the Ball
I think that both Meeks and Patterson
have still both played the entire game. GameTracker, anyway, says they both have 26 minutes. Perhaps fatigue could figure in?
Go Vols!
by Joel Hollingsworth on Jan 13, 2009 10:32 PM EST reply actions
And boy, Meeks looked gassed just before that last time out
Wishful thinking, I know.

I know it's Pat Summitt
But I still hate hate hate in-game interviews. Stop it.

It’s fine during a break, but not during the game

about stuff besides the game.

Is our defense so bad because our offense can’t score except on offensive rebounds?

You know
you may have point there. I was thinking sort of the same thing, in a much less analytical and rational way (sigh…)

Can Eric Berry tie a pair of basketball shoes?
We need defense. We need it bad. Changes have to be made for us to even make the tournament at this rate.
Not to mention
We have “no” inside game to speak of.
We don’t set up any kind of offense.
No one can create off of the dribble.
Shall I continue?
