Dave Neal's Face

does not match his body. Before today I never knew he was fat.

Heh

Missed that.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

How much will Downey score tonight?

I’m thinking 15.

I’m gonna try to watch on ESPN360, but might have to drop back to Bob and Bert.

by wvvol on Jan 17, 2009 6:05 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I'm guessing

just a bit over 20. Say, 22.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Hopefully,

they’ll just absolutely shut him down, but I just don’t know that motivation is all it will take.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Or maybe not.

I’m getting the game on channel 721 DirecTV. Not sure why. Not sure I want to.

by wvvol on Jan 17, 2009 6:07 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Lots of movement

along the baseline early.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

That's a freaky-looking coach

CAn’t put my finger on why, but . . . weird.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:09 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Didn't see that

An elbow? Really?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:12 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Maybe it's time to get nasty.

Hard foul on Tyler but the guy got the ball. Wish out D was that tough at times.

by wvvol on Jan 17, 2009 6:14 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

We do need an intimidator.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:15 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ooh

Tyler Smith is not the guy you want to intentional hard-foul, I don’t think.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:14 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

That was some nice interior passing. More of that.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:14 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Is that Ted Valentine?

Just ruined my night that that SOB still has a job.

by wvvol on Jan 17, 2009 6:17 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Had the same realization

at the same time. Same reaction, too.

Go Vols!

Head official

Known for bringing attention to himself.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The "peacock" referee.

Loves to make the wrong call. And then strut around the court.

by wvvol on Jan 17, 2009 6:19 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It's simple corporate strategy:

You keep one guy around that nobody likes. When annual review time comes around, you can use him to keep your averages in line while giving everybody else high ratings. You don’t fire the guy unless downsizing is mandatory; then he’s the first to go and you figure out a new scapegoat.

It makes management’s life easier at the expense of, well, everybody else.

;-)

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 6:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

So far

Defense is much, much better. Playing the right guys close, forcing turnovers. And the offense is following.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:20 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

South Carolina

can’t shoot this poorly much longer, though, huh?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:23 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

That's a switch:

Usually, UT shoots near 30% and the opponent is over 50%.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 6:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Is it me

or did Hopson not hustle down the floor for Downey’s last steal?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:26 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

It may be time to push it rather than ride it.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:35 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

So far, Downey's on a 12-13 point pace.

I’d guess he’ll end higher than that still, but it’s certainly a better start for UT than what they allowed against a certain other guard.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 6:36 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

LOVE

that tenacity/persistence from Negedu. He speaks 76 languages, you know.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:48 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

If I'm not confused . . .

Negedu is an SI model, Brian Williams is multilingual, and Marissa Miller has lost 280 pounds.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 6:52 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Negedu plays and we're kicking butt

Am I the only one to make that connection?

by wvvol on Jan 17, 2009 6:53 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I bet Negedu's thought the same thing. ;-D

But I hadn’t caught on to it. (Haven’t been able to keep up well.) Thx.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 6:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That looks happy:

Nice to see someone else have the dry spells for a change.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 6:58 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Got any numbers on assists?

Other than that:

mmm…rebounds…

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

11 to 4

Tennessee.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

5, 5, 0

The zero is rebounds. Huh.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Huh.

I’d guess that B. Williams has the lion’s share of rebounds then.

It’d be hard for anybody else to outrebound him when he’s having a good night. They’d first have to get past him.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Will be interesting

to see if we have the same energy in the second. Or was it just a short-lived response to Meeks?

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:09 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I'll be more curious to see if they play with this same energy in the next game.

If they keep this up through the season, it may be a sign of maturity setting in.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:12 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Oh, and Downey had . . .

four points in the first half. That’s good.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:11 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Two TOs by Prince on consecutive drives

Lead down to nine points.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:14 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Wow.

Sounds like SCar isn’t ready to go down quite yet.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:14 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Woo

Hopson having a solid game.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

If that was my name, I would always write it inside a spikey thought bubble.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:30 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nice run here

And we needed it.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:29 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah

Wayne Chism is very good at that.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:37 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah

South Carolina is very good at that, though.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:37 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

7:3 0 left,

and SCar hasn’t gained a point on UT since halftime. Nice work.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:44 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Um . . .

???

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, that was weird.

I meant 7 minutes, 30 seconds, and the point differential was the same as halftime.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

OIC

I get it now.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Oh

They called it. Williams broke the plane. First time I’ve seen that called.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:47 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

The out of bounds play

Where our big guy guards the guy inbounding the ball. The ref called Williams for getting too close to out of bounds.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:52 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Who's the guy

that’s seven feet tall? He’s a good couple of inches higher than Williams. He was just in the huddle.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:49 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

If he's on our side, that's Jurick(sp?) from Chattanooga.

Freshman. Probably redshirting if they can help it.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nope

Not him.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He had to be

7’0 or bigger.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He was listed at 7' during recruiting.

I don’t know where the 2 inches went, but he is the tallest guy on the team without question.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 7:55 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Must be a walk on

The guy was black.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe he was standing on something?

I don’t know. I’d never seen him before.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ah.

Well that rules out Jurick.

He was probably on a chair then.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 8:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

WOW

AUTHORITY from Smith.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:51 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

And Chism

Poor Wayne. Air balls a three, then gets called for another foul and is out of the game.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 7:58 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

And Tyler

saves the day.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 8:02 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Talk to me.

GameCast went dark.

by Hooper on Jan 17, 2009 8:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Up by five

Smith scored four straight points, and put the team back up nine.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 8:05 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Stole the momentum

from the Gamecocks, too.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 8:06 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Dont' recall seeing Prince go out

but at least Chism, and probably Prince.

Tatum has missed the front end of two consecutive trips to the FT line. They keep fouling the right guy.

Two shots now.

Go Vols!

by Joel on Jan 17, 2009 8:09 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Maze missed the first, got the second. They shoot a three, miss, get the rebound, the guy hits the shot and gets fouled.

Tatum’s had a very bad last couple of minutes.

It’s a three point game with them at the line for one.

Go Vols!
