997

Having beat South Carolina in TBA, the Lady Vols have given Pat Summitt her 997th career win.  Tennessee was heavily favored against the 8-8 Lady Gamecocks and didn't disappoint in a 68-56 win.

I didn't get a chance to see any of the game, unfortunately, so any writeup I might attempt would merely be a recap of recap articles from places like GVX and ESPN.  Rather than bore you with something like that, I'll look ahead.

On the 22nd, the Ladies play on the road against Arkansas - an 11-7 team that has yet to win an SEC game.  On the 25th, they'll then play on the Plains against Auburn (the Tigresses?) who are still undefeated.  That Auburn game may be a very difficult win for the good gals.  But if they do win both of the roadies, Pat Summitt will lead them against Ole Miss at home on the 29th - with 999 career wins.

Pay very close attention to these next two games.  If Summitt is threatening to roll her career odometer at home, I will resort to any level of begging/bribing/blackmailing/chicanery necessary to get out of my evening class early to watch the game live.  I'm planning on going via a student ticket, so I'll probably get there very, very early.

If you think you might go to that game, stay tuned.  I'd like to provide a chance for a get-together of sorts (probably something informal).  Call it a double feature - watch 1,000 and find out we're much geekier than anticipated all in one night!
