Talking points: abbreviated recruiting edition
- Big weekend for visits from football recruits. There were eight visitors in all this past weekend, four of whom were already committed. Of those who weren't, 6'-3", 200 pound linebacker Greg King and 6'6", 310 pound offensive lineman Aubrey Phillips came away impressed. King is saving the announcement of his commitment for Signing Day. Mr. SEC says that Phillips "left the same way." Perhaps Kiffin and Company are posturing for an explosive EPIC WIN on February 4?
- Target: JUCO D-Lineman. Orgeron and Monte have targeted 6'-3", 295 pound JUCO defensive lineman Branden Warner to shore up Tennessee's immediate need on the d-line. Warner's "committed" to UCLA, but that just makes Da Coach O laugh. Warner must be pretty good, as he's turned down offers from Arizona, Florida, and Oregon.

Trying to keep up with recruiting is a bit much for me, schedule-wise.
There are, however, a lot of recruits visiting campus between now and NSD. I have no doubt that we’ll see the number of commitments (or signees, depending on how they declare) jump quite a bit between now and the fall. My guess is that we’ll see a class around 23.

Er, that’s 23 recruits, not ranked #23.
