The power of Tim Tebow's eye black
Immediately following last night's BCS National Championship Game, the most-searched term on Google was "John 3:16."
Hmm. Why's that, I wonder?
Kind of hard to read, I know, but that's what's on Tim Tebow's eye black.
Congratulations to the Florida Gators for whom I was rooting last night, happy for today, and will hate again tomorrow.
Expect a non-computer-supplemented draft BlogPoll ballot at lunchtime, the computer numbers on Sunday, and the final ballot soon after that.

Why would someone need to Google that?
Seriously? If you’re a Christian, you know it by heart. If you’re not a Christian, you would probably at least recognize it as a Bible verse and instantly not care enough about it to Google it. And if you are not a Christian but somehow still want to know what it is, but have ever watched sports before, you have seen it in the stands and Googled it previously. So who was Googling it last night?

College football is/was lucky to have Tebow.
Hyperbole aside, he really is a fantastic player and a fantastic person on/off the field.
It’s a real shame I had to mute the TV last night; the announcergasms over the guy were so severe that I found myself getting angrier than I needed to be. The game was much more enjoyable in total silence.

Charles Davis is singularly the worst color commentator in sports.
I don’t care if he was a Vol or not. He brings absolutely nothing to the broadcast. He’s like a second play-by-play guy just (mis)telling you what you just saw.
Keep him on the Big 11 network where nothing exciting ever happens, and they run the same play 75% of the time.
I can’t wait for ESPN to get the BCS.

I am so with you
on ESPN and the BCS. It is soooo dysfunctional to watch a season’s worth of games with the same commentators and broadcast style and then be uprooted and cast into something/someone new you’ve never heard of and who, it quickly becomes obvious, knows less about the team than you do.
Go Vols!

Two more years until...
Musberger/Herbstreit
Nessler/Griese
Ron Franklin/idon’tcarewhotheyputwithhimitwillbeawesome
Sean McDonough/player to be named later
All four of those combinations for each BCS game will be better than Brennaman and Davis. It’s frustrating, because Brennaman does a good job on the big moments (end of Oklahoma/Boise), but on the every-down stuff he’s just totally out of practice.

Pam Ward/Ray Bentley for the Championship game
Are you forgetting Todd Blackledge? I think he’s ESPN’s lead color guy.

It's intentional
Because the guy I like least out of the main ESPN group is Mike “What is Britney doing with her life?” Patrick. Blackledge is solid and would be even more so with Franklin or McDonough (who was the lead guy for CBS during the Vols’ championship season and now lives in ESPN2 obscurity) – but Patrick doesn’t belong in the same class as the other four PBP guys.

I just can't do it
I can’t root for anything good to happen for Florida. Conference loyalty be damned.

tebow's black paint said
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son to die on the cross for our sins”
I find it very disturbing that know one so far has quoted that verse yet is a well known verse no matter how much of a gator hater you are which i truly am you have to have respect for Tim Tebow first of all because he’s a christian second of all he’s one of the best players around he put on a show last night he may be at Florida playing for the Gators i respect him more than an Tennessee player any college player for that matter he has skill and he knows that the Good Lord gave him those skills in my opinion that is the most important thing to me anything using the skill that the Lord gave you in anything not just sports you may not be perfect like the gators were last night but being perfect and winning is not the answer the answer is giving God your best

I just about passed out reading this mess! Good thing I can read almost as fast as Tebow, otherwise I’d be in trouble!
