Kiffin says Georgia will never beat Tennessee???

I guess he's off to a good start on that promise, but it seems like a pretty stupid comment to me. Guaranteeing a win is pretty ballsy, but saying you'll never lose is just ridiculous.

Flag for Deletion. Factually inaccurate. Troll.

Here are the only Kiffin comments from the article and none of them come remotely close to the title of this misleading Fanshot. Unless they just don’t teach reading comprehension at Florida and Georgia…

Ask Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin who the Volunteers’ biggest rival is, and he won’t tell you Florida or Alabama.

“Georgia, because of what we need to do recruiting, will be the biggest matchup for this staff and for our team,” he said.

Kiffin and his staff hope to use momentum from a 45-19 win Saturday over their new biggest rival to land a few recruits during their bye week.

One of the first-year coach’s first pledges was that he would do whatever it took to land the best prospects in the country. He delivered on that promise this season, landing a top 10 class just months after being hired.

“We’ll be recruiting from tomorrow for the whole week,” Kiffin said. “We’ll have our maximum guys out. We’ll be everywhere and we’re going to find the best players in the country.”

And, that’d be everything in the article related to what Kiffin said…

Um, there is this:
Kiffin also promised his Vols (3-3, 1-2 Southeastern Conference) they’d never lose to the Bulldogs while he was coach.

I’d like to know more about the actual statement and its context. It sounds to me like something he may have said just to his players as sort of a motivational thing. Or not at all. I don’t know. But it is in the article.

Anyone have any more information?

I just missed it. Apologies to Zoltar.

Plenty to abuse you about. But not that time. Just overlooked that part of the article.

As to the quote, it was probably taken out of context – Georgia will never beat Tennessee while Georgia has the same defensive coordinator

Plenty to abuse you about.

huh?

What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.

because you’re a bammer, but, suprisingly enough, I have nothing to say to the bammers yet. Still basking in the glow of what happened to the poor puppies….

In the AP story on the game:

“[Kiffin] basically made a promise to us that we wouldn’t lose to them anymore, forever or until he leaves,” Volunteers safety Eric Berry said. “He’s not going to let Georgia beat us.” (link @ ESPN.com)

So it’s nothing Kiffin said in front of any media, it’s something he said to the team that Berry (and I think a couple of others) repeated after the win. I’m sure Kiffin wasn’t planning on that being repeated, but guys like EB aren’t going to be around anymore, so I’m sure they felt more free to echo that idea. I’m sure this will be brought back up…it’s Kiffin, this is what happens.

I saw this on GVX yesterday as well

And I don’t really care.

It’s all about confidence. Yeah, we probably will lose to Georgia sometime during Kiffin’s tenure, but, so what? You honestly think anybody will come back to this statement even next season? Much less two or three seasons from now? He also said he would beat Florida this year, Nick Saban should thank Lance Thompson for his recruits, and Urbie is a cheater. 2 of those 3 are true. ;-)

Yes. Its Lane Kiffin, all they want to do is create more controversy around him, and if they can dig up some off-hand, out-of-context quote, the better.

Though this one may slip under the radar it doesnt seem to be getting any kind of publicity
