Who are we pulling for in the 12:20 game?
Auburn, because it makes a team that beat us look better, or Ole Miss, a team we haven’t played yet?

Good question. Ole Miss?
For one, we can chalk up the Auburn loss to team development. (UT just didn’t quite get it all together in time for Auburn.) But if we do beat Ole Miss, the better they appear, the better for UT. When the season’s over, the Ole Miss game will matter more.
For two, we seem to be going head-to-head with Auburn for a couple of commits, and in the first year for a head coach, upward improvement is a huge selling point. I hate throwing them under the bus like that, but an Auburn loss would help UT.

I agree
Boo Auburn. Plus some teams have a way of bouncing back after a loss. I wouldn’t want to test Ole Miss like that

I agree
Though this may be ultimately meaningless, I like Kiffin having a better first year than Chizik

I think it matters more to Auburn than Tennessee.
They’re in real danger of falling into a permanent shadow within their own state. Alabama could very well win the NC without the Iron Bowl, but Auburn might fall off the map if they lose that game. Their saving grace is that Georiga appears to be in decline and Auburn pulls well from the state of Georgia.
Of course, if Auburn loses to both Georgia and Alabama… oh, boy.

What a difference a year makes
Wasn’t Auburn on a 6-game winning streak against Bammer this time last year? And now they’re in danger of falling into a permanent shadow within their own state. I’m pulling for Ole Miss. I want them in the top 20 when we play (and hopefully beat) them.

That, and we have more control about our overall conference standings with Ole Miss.
Auburn losing another game can help UT slide into a better bowl. UT still has to do their own part, but Auburn has that tiebreaker thingy.

Well, so much for VaTech.
ACC: Proudly achieving 8-4 since, well, ever!
