Talking Points: the latest on the arrests of three Tennessee football players
The latest on the arrests of Nu'Keese Richardson, Mike Edwards, and Janzen Jackson on charges of attempted armed robbery:
- Jackson was released on his own recognizance yesterday afternoon, and his attorney says he hopes to prove Jackson's innocence of the whole thing in just a couple of days. As unlikely as this sounded yesterday morning, it could have something to do with reports that Jackson was inside the store at the time the other two were attempting to rob the victims and with reports that at least one of the people involved did not possess marijuana. We'll see.
- Edwards was released on bond yesterday. As of late Thursday, Richardson remained in jail.
- Lane Kiffin said that he'll deal with all three situations but only after they have gathered all of the pertinent information, which, as much as some fans and most rivals think suggests a frantic search for loopholes, is the most prudent and fair move.
- One of the victims said he had no idea that these guys were football players, and his comments after the fact suggest that had he known, he might not have even called the cops, which . . . wow. Dude.
- Bottom line, yesterday was a very bad day for the Kiffin Chimera and Tennessee athletics.
- And oh, yeah. We have a game tomorrow.

Not to mention, a bad day for Tennessee football fandom
"I think they should still be able to play football, regardless. Tennessee is my place. It’s my football team."
I realize that every school has fans like these, but really? That just seems like the last thing you would want to admit publicly. Fans across the country were already shaking their heads about this situation; now, this kid is getting a dose of it. Bottom line: it’s good to hear that they are getting the facts straight, first. Unfortunately for these players, the headline has already been printed across the country.
The guy doesn't strike me as all that bright from the video I've seen...
… but he’s bright enough to know that he doesn’t want to football team mad at him.
Lou Brock loves Lamp.
football team or entire campus?
besides isnot accepting cash from a fan a violation of the NCAA as far as eligibility? or does that only apply to if the cash was given to you voluntarily ? or since the suspects had no money would it be an attempted violation of an NCAA rule? or since the victim offered them a cheeseburger and the suspects actually turned it down that there is no culpability and actually these guys should be patted on back for being savvy enough to know that taking a meal could be disatrous to their eligibility?

Wake Up Kiffin
I guess Kiffin is now truly getting a taste of what he’s gotten himself into. You can ask him about this and his play call decisions at http://www.utsports.com/askthecoach/
