Nu'Keese Richardson still in custody, all three players left off the travel roster for Saturday
The Knoxville News-Sentinel has updated the ongoing story of Nu'Keese Richardson, Janzen Jackson and Mike Edwards, stemming from an attempted robbery early Thursday morning in the Pilot parking lot on the Cumberland Avenue strip. According to UT spokesperson Tiffany Carpenter, none of the three players are listed on the travel roster for tomorrow's noon kickoff at Ole Miss, for which the Vols will travel to Oxford today.
Janzen Jackson was released yesterday on his own recognizance, and Mike Edwards made bail at $19,500. KNS reports Richardson was still in custody as of today.
Jackson's role in the events remains in question, as does Tennessee's response in terms of suspensions or dismissals, as both Mike Hamilton and Lane Kiffin have stated they will wait until all the facts are clear before dishing out punishment. Charges against Jackson could end up being dropped, but either way the freshman free safety will not be making the trip to Oxford.
Look for Prentiss Wagner or Darren Myles to step in at free safety, and Dennis Rogan to join David Oku in returning kickoffs in place of Nu'Keese. We'll continue to update throughout the day as new information becomes available.

Ask Coach Kiffin
Just and FYI, I discovered this site where you can ask Coach Kiffin your questions on game day. He answers the top ranked questions on Sunday. http://www.utsports.com/askthecoach/
Thank god
I was really afraid that Kiffin would allow Jackson and/or Edwards to travel with the team this weekend, since not everything is clear. I’m glad those fears are unfounded.

You know, I wasn't too worried about that.
He’s been pretty strong on discipline so far, with the Brandon Warren case being the prime example. I don’t think he’s afraid to cut anybody, really, and he seems to believe that a person’s affect on team chemistry is more important than their individual skillset.
I am trying hard to avoid the obvious snark on this one; let me try this: based on what pre-existing information we do have about Kiffin and discipline, nothing suggests that he won’t administer proper discipline. (Yes, that was awkward phrasing.)

You know, you might be right.
I think my sarc-o-meter may have burned out yesterday. But the emphatics would lend to that.

Actually
I actually wasn’t being sarcastic, though I didn’t think it was likely. I was just afraid that Kiffin wouldn’t do anything until “he got all the information.” I know it was slim, it was just an uneasy feeling. Maybe I’m too used to Fulmer’s final years though…..

Ok.
So I did read it right. And granted, that would have been a bad thing to see. There was already enough information available to justify leaving JJ at home this weekend, much less Mike and Nuke (had he posted bail).

bobo
is going to be an expert on judicials matters pertaining to scholarship athletes before this is all over.
Good research and postings. I and my other rabid TVol fans have been discussing these arrests via text message all week.
Bring on the Ole Miss football team and their band playing some new song.
Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.
I noticed in CBS Sports' weekend preview (Tony's Top Ten)
They had the basic facts of the case wrong. He said that Richardson and Jackson would likely be cut loose and Edwards (who was not directly involved) would probably stick around. Shouldn’t they know more about this by now?

That, and people are still floating the idea that they tried robbing the gas station itself.
I’ve even seen some people write that they were robbing the gas station owner. Yeah, the Haslams have a way of frequenting the Strip at 2 AM.

Still in Cutody?
Bear in mind, I am not in Tennessee right now, but why is Nuke still in custody? Could we pass a cup and post his bond, please?
yeah, he's still in.
Tough spot for him. Given his high school locale, the odds of his family being able to post are not all that high. If (a) UT fan(s) was/were to post for him, would that be an NCAA violation? I don’t know. But it would look pretty bad.
Maybe Zickefoose can post for him.
