Joel, I know we're favored to win
But Vanderbilt’s a bit better than Memphis, you think?

Unlike last week
The ‘distraction’ is in check at least for now and Tennessee comes out like a wounded animal today.
42 – 13 Rocky Top.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Ohio State-Michigan
media-“zomg greatest rivalry ever…” slurp slurp slurp…
Neyland Stadium-It goes to eleven.
Quarterbacks of note
Ryan Mallet is throwing down the gauntlet on the SEC passing TD lead, with 3 in the first half against Mississippi State.
BJ Coleman in the first half at Alabama: 6 of 19, 1 INT, 35 yards.
Where does that place him and Crompton?
by David Hooper on Nov 21, 2009 1:57 PM EST up reply actions
Tied coming into today
so he’s +3 for the moment
by Will Shelton on Nov 21, 2009 2:00 PM EST up reply actions
And the LSU game next week..
Hmm. I like Malletts odds for the lead after today, but Crompton has the advantage next week.

Dixon has a beautiful stiffarm.
If you ever need a copy of his fingerprints, check the helmets of Arkansas defenders.
MState-Arkansas has become very entertaining
70 yard TD run by Anthony Dixon will make it just 28-21 Arkansas midway thru the third, lots of offense
So much for Cutt gaining bowl eligibility today
Miami has scored 24 unanswered to make it 34-16.

And bad offense in the Big 10 continues to wreak havoc with Hoop's computer
by Incipient_Senescence on Nov 21, 2009 3:16 PM EST reply actions
Bad offense wasn't in the Big 10.
That’s solely the province of UNC-BC and their 10 turnovers.

pretty much
No problem with spiking them, though. :-D

Also
Anyone know how to watch the UT game for those without ESPNU or time to travel to a bar?
by Incipient_Senescence on Nov 21, 2009 3:19 PM EST reply actions
Not sure; it won't be on 360.
Find a bar with wireless. :)

by Chris Pendley on Nov 21, 2009 3:20 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, it not being on 360 hurts
Because the only bar that will be showing it (that I know of) will cost me 5 bucks and ~45 minutes each way in travel. I would normally do that, but I have a 10-15 page paper that needs to be written today, and I can’t justify the travel time. I’m praying that a channelsurfing feed will pop up. They have a million early games, but the late games look to be slimmer so far; I’m hoping more will arrive.
by Incipient_Senescence on Nov 21, 2009 3:24 PM EST up reply actions
I think a lot of the late games will show up on the channels that are currently listed as early games.
At least, I’m hoping so as well. I’m in the same boat.

Final in Tuscaloosa
Bama beats Chatty 45-0, BJ Coleman 7 of 25, 36 yards, 2 INTs. Bama ran for 313 yards, 102 and 2 TDs on just 11 carries for Ingram.
Crazy turnaround in Ole Miss-LSU
Ole Miss was up 3-0 and had two touchdowns called back, one on a pick six for a block in the back/unsportsman like double, then had a Shay Hodge great TD catch called back because he ran of bounds before he caught it, judgment call on whether or not he was forced out.
LSU then blocks the field goal and runs it back for a touchdown.
Ready for your officiating controversy of the week?
Shay Hodge catches (one heck of a catch, btw) a TD pass for Ole Miss … but it’s ruled he went out of bounds prior to returning to the field; hence, a five-yard penalty and a loss of down. On the ensuing FG attempt, it’s blocked and returned for a LSU TD.
Simulated Gameday Experience - just like the real thing, only we have smoke machines.
The unsportsman like on the pick six was an incredibly terrible call just for diving into the end zone
I don’t know if that specific dive move was a point of emphasis or whatever, but in five minutes of play the refs are already an issue, and that’s never good.
by Will Shelton on Nov 21, 2009 3:57 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, I wasn't even taking that into account.
It was a bizarre sequence all around.

Dexter McCluster has almost twice as many yards as LSU
Yet the Tigers lead 14-9. Football is screwy sometimes.

Plenty of 4 PM streams came up
Which makes me hold out more hope for our game. If the UT/Memphis game had a stream, UT/Vandy should too, right?

Jordan Jefferson may be injured.
He went down strangely prior to the LSU FG (they’re up 17-9 now).

Onside kick!
But Patrick Peterson was actually out of bounds this time. Ole Miss ball.

And on the next play, LSU forces and recovers a fumble.
That’s so charitable of Ole Miss. But wait! There’s a review! Hodge’s knee is down; let’s see if this call stands.

And it's overturned!
The entertaining part of that was watching Gary Danielson second-guess himself. (hey Joel, I got it right this time!)

If Ole Miss can get out of their own way
They look like the superior team. Making me feel a little better about last week
Hmm
The Big 10’s bid to have 4 teams tied at 10-2 may take a hit today. Wisky is down 27-14 at halftime against Northwestern. Obviously, two TDs is not an insurmountable lead, but it’s not insignificant either.

Meanwhile, in Notre Dame news
UConn is giving them all they can handle. I almost hope they beat UConn so they won’t have to hire a coach who can actually win a close game against them.

Well, of course.
I also don’t want one there who’s beaten UConn this season. Possibly by two points.

On '360 halftimes, their little feature thingy blames Tenuda and the defense.
Mostly a lack of talent on that side of the ball.

In "Adventures of ex-Tennessee Opponents":
Ohio is now 8-3 and will play Temple for the MAC East title next week.
UConn setting up for a winning field goal.
Is it wrong for a Tennessee fan to cheer for a Connecticut team? Just checking.
I feel a little dirty.
Not going to lie.

The ND announcers have blocked the Navy game from their memories
when talking about how they’ve never seen someone run as well as the guy for UConn is
Can you blame them?

Timeout to avoid a probably illegal formation penalty, then a sack b/c Jefferson refuses to bail on a play.
Then a delay of game due to pouting.

Gary Danielson incorrectly reporting that UConn beat Notre Dame
the CBS guys have just been awful last in the last few weeks
They read the boxscore wrong.
They should be better than that.

WHAT?!?
Why would LSU not want a touchback? What would they gain by quick-snapping? Were the announcers serious on that?
Maybe someone else touched it?
Maybe Verne’s senility is rubbing off on Gary?

Ok, I can see that now.
Thinking it over. If LSU thought it should have been Ole Miss’s.
But none of the LSU players acted like it touched them. Hmm.

That's actually why I'd rather see LSU win this game.
They’re ineligible for the BCS, but their ranking is holding Big 10 teams back just a bit further. The further down the Big 10 stands, the harder it is to justify taking them as an at-large.
by David Hooper on Nov 21, 2009 6:41 PM EST up reply actions
The Big 10 isn't a question
Iowa is 10-2. They’ll make it. Or PSU will. Oklahoma State is the big thing. Root for Oklahoma to beat them. That’ll put Boise as the 4th at large behind SEC/Big10/TCU
by Incipient_Senescence on Nov 21, 2009 6:44 PM EST up reply actions
To think that Michigan had Salsa Boy announcing Miles as their head coach at one point.
I’m going with the ‘Michigan has poor taste in coaches’ theory until proven otherwise. This LSU team plays as loose as Miles, but without the requisite discipline.
There's now ONE 7PM channelsurfing streak:
UL-Laf vs. UL-Monroe. Seriously?
by Incipient_Senescence on Nov 21, 2009 6:51 PM EST reply actions
