There is a reason why New York Times has a junk credit rating
They like to print garbage. And it just keeps getting worse. ([Note by Joel, 12/15/09 6:15 PM EST ] Edited to quote excerpts instead of re-publishing the whole thing.)
Hostesses as Recruiters? How Far Is Too Far? . . . .According to one dictionary, a hostess is: “a woman who receives or entertains guests in a social or official capacity.” Like the traditionally dressed women who smile and bow when you enter a department store in Seoul or Tokyo. Very formal. Very dignified. But sending out “hostesses” as college football recruiters? Tacky.
I’m not suggesting anything untoward happened on the little trip from Knoxville, Tenn., to Duncan, S.C. I’m sure the two young women were there just to wish the lads well and say, “If you’re ever in the neighborhood, y’all come see us, y’heah?”

He goes to such lengths to prove that "I'm not a Tennessee basher ... No Yankee prejudice," by regurgitating a bunch of crap one can get from a travel brochure, it's clear that he is. He elimitates as many facts as possible, and includes as many generalizations as he can
"...posing with a couple high school prospects a couple states away" of course they traveled fewer miles to S Carolina than it is to Nashville.
"I thought there was a law against this kind of thing, across state borders or something" - implying that these girls are prostitutes
"maybe they were flown on a private jet donated by some fat-cat booster" Hey, lets just start making things up!
And of course an impartial account by Memphis State supporter, Greg Easterwood
