Tennessee has accepted an invitation to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl!
In a refreshing turnaround from last year, UT gets an opportunity to prove themselves in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, presumably against Virginia Tech. It's official on the Bowl's website.
Use this thread to celebrate and discuss the rest of the bowl selections tonight!

Tickets go on sale at 9:00 PM tonight
Mike Hamilton says the Vols have already sold 11k thru season ticket holders…if you want to go to this game, and you should, the public onsale will be at uttix.com tonight.
Trust me – the Hokies are going to come in full force. We need to match them.
so
for the regular season, my seats are 25 yard line 8 rows up. But I didn’t want to do the season ticket holder deal, because they just assign tickets, and you don’t know where they are going to be. does anyone know where the teams allotted tickets are?
Unfortunately, their seating chart isn't up yet.
Hopefully it’ll come online here, but no guarantees.
If the CFA bowl still uses the same cycle they did in 2002-2003 when we were there
the SEC team is the home team in odd numbered years, which they’ll show on some seating charts
With this and the Cotton Bowl, Boise's in the BCS.
There just aren’t enough other teams.
Simulated Gameday Experience - just like the real thing, only we have smoke machines.
Everything I've read today
has said the Fiesta is going to pull the trigger on the TCU-Boise matchup. It’s bad for both programs, but I will definitely watch it
I was afraid of that.
The Mid-Major Sideshow Fiesta Bowl! Way to marginalize, y’all.

Rumors are TCU-Boise in the Fiesta, but I just can't see that happening.
The Fiesta knows nobody else will pick up Boise, so I’d bet they’ll pick up PSU (over Iowa, too) with their first selection for the guaranteed fanbase and national interest.
The Fiesta has the last pick of all BCS teams. And the Sugar and Orange definitely will not pick Boise before then.
So if the Fiesta took TCU with their first pick (right after Florida goes to the Sugar), they’ll get the midmajor petting zoo.
That would likely send PSU to the Orange and Cincy to the Sugar.
which means
Florida State, the Gator Bowl and the ACC just gave Clemson, Boston College, Miami and North Carolina the finger
The Capital One bowl isn’t showing yet because of the Big 10 tie-in and BCS implications. But it’s LSU and somebody.
But Jim Delaney made it happen.

They get to take financial buoy Ohio State at the next opportunity.
It’s a win-win scenario for them.

The Big Ten commissioner.
I’ve just decided to blame him for everything that’s wrong with the BCS.

same
TCU-Boise is kinda a meh match-up. Won’t be a Cinderella story no matter who ends up winning.
Neyland Stadium-It goes to eleven.
It was the Poinsettia Bowl last year, too.
And will be a regular matchup starting in 2012 during the regular season.
A HUGE whiff by the selection committee.
Ok, my rooting interests are set.
Alabama OBLITERATE Texas.
Cincy beat Florida.
Tech crush Big10.
And, I guess TCU over Boise, though this game upsets me the most. But this would leave three undefeateds, including two teams who can rightly say they weren’t given a fair shake.
And you are surprised ...why?

And the first comments on the game are about Brian Kelly leaving for Notre Dame.
Stay classy, FOX.

Say it with me:

Simulated Gameday Experience - just like the real thing, only we have smoke machines.
Whoa. Iowa / Georgia Tech in the Orange.
WOO!
Simulated Gameday Experience - just like the real thing, only we have smoke machines.
Eh, WOO! for a couple of reasons:
1 – GT can beat Iowa.
2 – the BCS actually respected head-to-head.

I don't think they had a choice, oddly.
LSU couldn’t go. I don’t know if there was a limit on non-Big Six teams at 2 or not, but if there was a limit on them, then the only choices were B10 teams. Otherwise it’s B10 vs. BYU (which: what?).

all those rules are stupid.
they should put the best teams in. Iowa isn’t among them. put in a 2nd big 12, acc, or pac 10 team in
I gotta go.
But wow, do we have some stuff to discuss this week.
Congrats, BCS. You may convert this bowl fanatic die-hard into a playoff guy yet.
The best system has the highest bus factor.
As in, the number of people you want to hit with a bus to fix the friggin’ thing after you see the final result.

By the way, the women are destroying Texas right now.
It’s 65-38 with 10 minutes to go in the 2nd half (on ESPN2).

wow
so Cincinnati actually had a better shot at the NC than TCU did. Cincy was ranked #2 by the computers
cincy power
excellent. i will watch my vols beat the hokies on new years eve, and the day after i will watch flawda lose to el gatos. what a way to spend new years
Anyone see the bowl selection special on espn?
they discussed the Tennessee game but their graphic was VT vs the Lady Vols. Lou Holtz said Tennessee is a weak SEC team vs a strong ACC team. I think Rece Davis mentioned USC beating Clemson and Georgia beating Georgia Tech.
Holtz actually said...
“This is a match up of one of the best teams of the ACC against one of the worst in the SEC”
One of the worst, 2nd in the east…whatever.

they've pulled that lady vols logo stunt a couple times
makes me think it is no longer a simple accident. Knowing the history UT and ESPN have you never know…
