Own It, Nicholas...
Nick Calathes post-game:
"They're well-coached, they're a tough team," said sophomore guard Nick Calathes, who led Florida (18-4, 5-2 SEC) with 21 points. "Obviously, I don't think they've been better than us the past couple of years, but they're a good team."
Not better than us? I think that's a little bit of pride and competitive spirit flaring up from Calathes, especially after a chippy, physical matchup. However, there's no mistaking that Tennessee has held an edge over the Gators since Bruce came to Knoxville. 6-1. 4-0 at home; 2-1 in the "House of Horrors".
Quid pro quo... the Gators won the national championship twice, so they claim they're a better team than Tennessee based on final results (at least during those 2 years) even though Tennessee won 3 of 4 during that stretch. This reminds me of how Tennessee would go 10-2 in football back in the 90s, but lose to Florida at the beginning of the season. Many of us felt that Tennessee was a better team most of the season, but Florida's athleticism and offensive philosphy exposed matchup problems gave our defense fits. Conversely, during Florida's NCAAB championship runs, Tennessee created matchup problems in the backcourt and had the athleticism to both match Florida's overall speed and inside power and force Florida into turnovers. As such, while Tennessee might not have had the overall season success as the Gators, they were certainly the better team when they matched up. That ownage continued for at least one more matchup last night. Let's keep it rolling on March 1.

If there's not one of these guys on their team...
They’re not really Florida. Teddy Dupay begets Mike Miller begets Joakim Noah begets Nick Calathes. I can’t type anymore because my arms are tired from doing the chomp.
