Georgia @ Tennessee: Getting the Frustrations Out
It's not like the Tennessee / Georgia game was close. Or exciting. Or well played. But it kind of felt good, ddn't it? Tennessee was up big early and ...really didn't let Georgia get any closer than 10 once they opened that lead. They were up 17 at the half, the game was effectively over, and they still outsored the 'Dogs 39-25 in the second half. Not bad.
Is there anything I'd take out of this game? Not really; the game wasn't close enough. I learned a couple things from the game, though:
- Tennessee has 15 guys on their roster
- Ryan Childress is the last guy on the bench
That was about it. You can't read too much into the rebound numbers (+2, but Georgia had 19 less attempts than Tennessee), field goal percentage (Georgia's a terrible shooting team), or even guard defense (UGA's goards arent good). Everyone on Georgia pretty much sucked it up when it came to scoring, and I'm not going to lie - it was nice seeing only one guy reach double digits and have that guy not be a guard. However, when Georgia goes 8-15 from the line, it's not like we can say it was a quality win.. I'd love to point to the 25(!) assists Tennessee had as a sign, but ...hey, you can get creative when you're up that much.
This game had the feel of one of those early-season creampuff games that Tennessee didn't really schedule. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing necessarily, but it's good for the confiderence. This had the feeling of a woodshed game; it was almost like the Vols figured out they were categorically better than the team they were playing and just took them out early and expanded on it. That's a good sign. That's a sign they got over the disappointment at Auburn. That's a sign the quality defense we saw against Memphis can be paired with an offense. That's a sign the offense we showed against LSU can be paired with a defense. That's a sign the Vols know what they have to do.
Will this game mean they'll come to play the rest of the season? Perhaps. But it's a good sign.

Poor Chilly
I had such high hopes that he would be the next Dane Bradshaw.
He was always kind of hot and cold, he would have games where he played good, and games where I would cringe when people looked like they might pass him the ball…

Georgia SUCKS
How did the athletic administration ever let Dennis Felton drag the Bulldogs into such a cesspool? Athens has great hoops facilities. The ATL has a boatload of talented players that seem to go everywhere but Georgia. That is unacceptable. Too bad for the Vols that there is only one Georgia in the SEC.
