I'm really thankful for Yahoo!
Earning their exclamation point today, they are. I can’t get ESPN360, and for some reason the game’s not on up here in the Tri Cities. I haven’t paid for GamePlan, so Yahoo! it is.

I've been thankful for yahoo for awhile now :D
Something we won’t have with the upcoming SEC / ESPN deal, I don’t think :(

mmm
Good point. Thankfully, ESPN apparently has 359 other channels available before you have to resort to the 360th.

And . . . “college basketball” on channel 5, according to the TiVo, but it’s been showing a channel logo for five minutes now.

That's all mine says is "College Basketball"
No teams listed. Is that the channel that usually shows Raycom games?
Probably
But they didn’t show it several Raycom games ago, either.

Wooo for Yahoo!
ESPN 360 doesn’t work for at work, so yeah!
Go Vols!
Scotty Hopson...found, well kinda, at least!
Blake Griffin
34 pts, 20 reb., with 12+ MINUTES left in 2nd half. What a Beast!
Scotty Hopson...found, well kinda, at least!
I heard the announcers say something about it
What was going on?
by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 3:13 PM EST up reply actions
We need prince in the midcourt to delever the ball... I think last 3 weeks has shown he is the key to whole offense
I agree
He finds areas on the court that no one else can find. Can make passes no one else seems to be able to make. The geometry of the court changes when he’s on the floor.
by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 3:15 PM EST up reply actions
Really?
Huh. I heard that he lost pounds, grams, and three other foreign units of measure that I don’t care enough to look up.
by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 3:18 PM EST up reply actions
Hey
It it on t.v. on that channel. It could not be a worse picture, though. Reminds me of our first t.v.

Ditto here
Except that it must be colder, because mine looks like snow. And clouds. And sounds like it’s raining buckets.

Happiness is having the game on TV (muted) while listening to the radio broadcast.
Now, if I had Tivo, I would be able to delay the TV broadcast to sync with the radio broadcast. (Or so I understand.)
That would be a dream except Kesling is one of the worst radio men I have ever heard and I get tired of Bert going "MONEY!" gah...
You dislike Bert but like Vitale?
.. .. .. You .. .. sobs
I thought we raised them better than this :’(
by bobo_the_vol on Feb 14, 2009 3:24 PM EST up reply actions
Bob Kesling isn't very good.
I think he’s had enough time to establish himself after following a legend and he’s just average.
I like Money! though
If I get tired of hearing it means we’re doing good.
by bobo_the_vol on Feb 14, 2009 3:25 PM EST up reply actions
At least he talks about what happens on the court.
My beef with the TV guys is they spend too much time hyping one or two guys and forget that they’re supposed to be doing play-by-play once in a while.
by David Hooper on Feb 14, 2009 3:25 PM EST up reply actions
I'd like to be able to assume that THEY saw what happened, too.
I have many reasons to question that.

He is the worst with football...
Bob: “They run the ball…. gain of two it will be 2nd and 8”
Me: Who ran the ball and what kind of run right, left?
(next play)
Bob: 2nd and looks like about 11 and takes the snap and its a……….. long pass up middle of the field first down."
Me: A Pass to WHO!!!
Bob: that was Rogers on the catch…
Me: Finally
Bob Correction Briscoe with the catch and it will be 3rd and 1 as they line up under center
Me: Good grief!

I figured you could make a DVR out of a paperclip and two sticks of Juicy Fruit.
I mean, WTF hoop? :)
Theoretically
I’ve tried it before, and it’s really difficult to sync. And I think it might have to be re-synched at commercials. Don’t remember. But yeah, right now, I’d settle for a decent picture on my t.v. I am not exaggerating. In fact, as I’m typing this, the network must have decided that a logo is better than the crud they were piping out, b/c the logo’s back.
by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 3:25 PM EST up reply actions
I think they made Tyler mad
Much like the game in Nashville, we’re all over them early…last time they never got back in it.
Last time it was Wheezey stepping on their gut.

I hear that there's a football recruit in the crowd
And no one is to mention his name. In fact, I hear that Hamilton is now insisting that Kiffin refer to all recruits by some sort of index code.

Play by play of the logo
Orange and peach gradient, a bit pixelated. Nice alphaed-out blue bars in the background. Stylish Arial-ish font of the WCYB next to the NBC Peacock. A few vertical lines among the horizontal theme.
Just in case anyone was wondering.

Dodge ball. I’ve always been surprised that basketball hasn’t ruled the intentional bounce-off as illegal.
No doubt,
But then again, grabbing jersey at the end of the game to stop the clock should be intentional too, I guess, but it’s not.

It's like watching Denver football under Dan Reeves.
He had John Elway and would spend the entire game calling interior runs (Reeves was a running back in his playing days). When the Broncos were trailing in the 4th, he would allow Elway to pass the ball and they’d come from behind to win. It was extremely aggravating to watch them play away from their strength for most of the game and rely on it in crunch time.
UT seems to be doing the same – lobbing 3’s in the first half and switching to the interior game in the second half.
It is rather annoying
but not as bad as Bilas spewing hate.

The last I’ll say about it, but . . .

Fun Yahoo facts:
Vandy’s player of the game according to Yahoo is a guy who has 4 points and picked up 2 fouls before the first TV timeout.
That kind of sums up the first half, no?
Maybe we could tell them that points are "secondary violations" and put Kiffin on the court.
Points would flow like a river.
But someone else is counting the points.
We can’t self-report our own point total.

by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 4:42 PM EST reply actions
It's odd because they men in stripes aren't calling fouls on Vandy.
Witness the assault on Cam Tatum at half-court which no one saw.
How far is Prince from a quadruple double?

by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 4:55 PM EST up reply actions
That was a charge, was a foul, and was a travel on Vandy there not called ...
(the travel was when the guy stumbled as he grabbed the rebound)
what are these refs doing??
WOW
What a hustle play by Tatum! Awesome block and then chased it down back to half court and almost saved it.
by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 14, 2009 4:57 PM EST reply actions

by David Hooper on Feb 14, 2009 5:22 PM EST up reply actions
That'd be awesome for them to win on many levels.
One level would be to make Calathes’s triple-double count for naught.
You know, I hate to bring this up...
But UGA beating UF isn’t going to do us any favors when anyone says the SEC is having a down year. Not that I don’t mind having one team drop off the pace.
Gators were a little behind the eight ball already
Florida’s 1-3 against the other three teams in this race.
by Will Shelton on Feb 14, 2009 5:32 PM EST up reply actions
True, but it's probably too late to salvage the SEC's reputation this year.
Since we’re in conference play, we don’t see the interconference matchups anymore. So we might as well hope for UT’s best interests, and to heck with the conference.
by David Hooper on Feb 14, 2009 5:33 PM EST up reply actions
Most of salvaging - if there's any - will come in the tourney.
We just need to get teams there first. :)
