Hey, look! They're younger than us! All in all, it looks like UT has the advantage in the interior with Chism and Smith. Meanwhile, they have that guard (in this case, it's David Huertas) who accounts for a large portion of the team's offense and will naturally threaten to have a career day against UT. Man, this is beginning to get repetitive.
Go Vols!

I'm in.
After the effort on Monday, we need more than just one person here.

I got my times messed up for that one
(… Kinda glad I did :( )
(… but only ‘kinda’ )
by bobo_the_vol on Feb 18, 2009 7:33 PM EST up reply actions
Give me a bit to catch up, though.
I’m still getting logged in and all.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:06 PM EST up reply actions
Question: Who guards Huertas first?
My money is on Bobby Maze, he’s our best ‘get after him and put pressure on him’ guy. Has anyone else on the team forced a 5 second call? (he’s got 2 or 3.)
Ungh, I'm kind of lagging on the feed though
never done that before. Boo :(

I liked the first one better
The image of Bruce Pearl stitching on the sideline is excellent.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:11 PM EST up reply actions
That attempted steal / block by Hopson
was a tremendous show of athleticism…. and a stupid decision to go for the steal.
Phew
Finally got things rolling. ESPN’s javascript is a pain in the neck to splitscreen. Using Firefox, I eventually had to open it in an IE subwindow to split it within the browser.
Heh. No.
I haven’t fired that up yet. I was thinking maybe the second half, but we’ll see.
It’s too early right now, though.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:16 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah.
I normally approximate a pacemaker in my head for both teams.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:17 PM EST up reply actions
Either that, or they figured out how to guard Huertas so far.

Redux:
We always seem to go 3-happy in the first half, then figure out that we have an interior game and play better in the second half.
Ole Miss
is stealing our lunch money under the basket. It’s pretty disconcerting.

kinda bodes well, imo.
All these TOs and bad shots .. yet it’s still a super tight game.
Here’s to hoping we go on a run.
by bobo_the_vol on Feb 18, 2009 8:33 PM EST up reply actions
Agree.
We’re not shooting too badly (~.400). It’s just the TOs.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:34 PM EST up reply actions
Doesn't feel like a run.
Even if the announcers just said it was.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:37 PM EST up reply actions
Hopefully it isn’t a run then. Maybe that means we still have a run in us.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:38 PM EST up reply actions
Woohoo!
Saw it just after you said it. That’s always fun.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:36 PM EST up reply actions
The non-call on the reach was fine
The call on the reach right after the rebound – in succession – was terrible.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!
(Fans of NCAA ’09 will appreciate that, if they overheard Andy Kennedy yelling.)
Won't make a lick of difference.
They’re in W1 pretty much no matter what.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions
I know they'd have to lose 3 more than UT.
I always look for hope until it’s completely gone.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions
(I’m thinking regular season crown, FWIW.)
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:41 PM EST up reply actions
See, now that makes more sense.
Here I was thinking you were talking about tourney seeding.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:42 PM EST up reply actions
we're 3/6
but it’s more like 3/8 because we missed the front end of two 1 and 1s

Pop quiz:
If you were chasing a ball out of bounds toward the opposing bench, would you take the opportunity to dive into the bench players, a la body surfing?
;-)
If I was Brian Williams, I would.
Collateral damage woo!
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:48 PM EST up reply actions
I think he's talking about their football team.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:56 PM EST up reply actions
I meant within this season.
Compared to their early games, they’re much better. Unfortunately, I lost my connection, so I couldn’t reply quickly.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 8:58 PM EST up reply actions
Didn't he get bumpe in the air?
I thought that was a foul? I don’t know though. I’m not as familiar with the rules as I ought to be.
I think so.
Refs generally swallow their whistles then anyway.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 8:53 PM EST up reply actions
I watched it again a couple of times...
…and I would say no, not really, but the refs were ready for halftime..
What's the halfime score?
Everything has stopped updating and they’re talking about that other footyball…
BTW, I don't have Joel's handy dandy thingy for halftime stats.
It’s free discussion or nothing tonight.
Pay discussion is available
on the site that Bryce Brown’s a part of. I don’t know the address.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:01 PM EST up reply actions
Ouch.
(For reference, it’s potentialplayers.com, but I get your point.)
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:02 PM EST up reply actions
I'm glad y'all have to follow that.
No offense intended.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:04 PM EST up reply actions
It's weird, in a way.
Recruiting is terribly addictive to follow. There’s always news. Even disregarding the late signees, the news for next year’s class is in full swing. I’m really looking forward to the last prospects deciding so I can hang up the stalking cleats for a few months.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:06 PM EST up reply actions
I know it's addictive.
Even when playing NCAA ‘09, I found myself wanting to skip the games to get back to the recruiting. The difference is that I was going after 17-year-old data compared to 17-year-old people. It doesn’t feel nearly as …well, dirty. And I know there are a lot of people that care about it way more than I do, and I’m kind of okay with that.
I’m still amused that my semi-random “thank god recruiting is over” FanPost ended up becoming another shouting match.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:12 PM EST up reply actions
We haven't had this much contention on the site in a long, long time.
It’s fun, in its own way. The Bama people don’t seem to take to kindness well…
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:13 PM EST up reply actions
I'm not helping and I'm perfectly okay with that. :)
I’m subscribing to the “enjoy your hatred” school of thought. No sense in killing them with kindness if they won’t admit they’re dead. (Of course, I don’t mind the “here’s 500 words explaining just how badly you’re wrong” method either. You’re quite good at that, I must admit.)
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:15 PM EST up reply actions
Have fun.
I have my own way, but I don’t want to quelch anybody else’s entertainment. Holly did have a point in her EDSBS rant; it’d be awesome to be that fanbase that spews fury no matter the situation.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:18 PM EST up reply actions
I'm too sane to do that.
I think the way I deal with that has been pretty well established by this point.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:21 PM EST up reply actions
He had some business travel earlier this week, I know.
He mentioned something to me about being offline for a bit, but I don’t know all the details.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:03 PM EST up reply actions
You weren't.
He was in a hurry at the time, so I didn’t ask for details. I’m guessing that he’ll be back by the end of the week, but I could be wrong.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:05 PM EST up reply actions
Little late for that.
Florida survives, 83-74.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:02 PM EST up reply actions
WOW!
I feel like I should rec this for posterity.

Back to 10.
Can’t shoot FTs tonight.

physical. Pound the freaking ball inside. I don’t understand why Wayne isn’t getting inside touches.

Missed opportunity in that sequence
Hopson needs to knock down that open three, JP needs to have that rebound.

MSU G Phil Turner is having one heck of a game.
11 points, 12 boards (!), and a block already.
Plus two of SC’s starters are in mild foul trouble.

Wow.
Close calls not going our way this half.

Tyler was getting slammed pretty good. Oh well. Wish they had gone with the Let’s Give Wayne a Touch Every Trip mantra this half.

Nope.
I’m not even pulling out the pace machine while we’re down.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:41 PM EST up reply actions
I've kind of stopped watching.
At this point either we need a 10-0 run or the Bulldogs need to pull this out. That’s it.

Save that pinky for this weekend's game
Wonder if Patterson will play. I bet he will.

At this point, save the pinky.
I’m sure you’ll need to donate it for a different game.

So, I kind of hate being the guy to bring this up...
…but is Renaldo Woodbridge, um, good at basketball? Someone tell me he’s a true frosh or something.
Good.
Even a redshirt frosh would have me shaking my head…well, more than it is.

Not really anymore.
Let LSU have the season now.

Yeah, I know.
I just hadn’t pulled that out in a while.

Yeah, "that sucked" doesn't quite fit the bill.
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 9:52 PM EST up reply actions
I'm working on one.
There won’t be much to it.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:54 PM EST up reply actions
Recap's "done".
Waiting on the MSU / USC final.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 9:58 PM EST up reply actions
Cool.
I’ll bump it up once the game’s officially over. (Officially = ‘net feed’s done.)
by David Hooper on Feb 18, 2009 10:02 PM EST up reply actions
Man, that ruins half the fun of the post :(
by Chris Pendley on Feb 18, 2009 10:03 PM EST up reply actions
Aw,
Sorry. I just didn’t want to bail on the rest of the game, sad as it was.

the timestamp doesn’t change.

I thought you were being clever there

No, I was being a perfectionist.
I originally used “much”, but switched to “many” because points are countable. That is, I intended to switch to “many”.
