UT Announces Petersen Stepping Down
John Petersen is going to resign as UT President. While I have no basis to assert this for UT, it's not unusual for a school to name a new president when they need to make massive changes to the budget or the structure of the school. The University and athletics are separate entities, but this bears watching as the two are heavily intertwined.

Completely unrelated true story: Sharing my favorite (only) John Petersen memory
Last August Petersen came out to Cali for the UCLA game, and was emceeing the pep rally on the golf course beforehand. He had the band arrayed behind him and asked the crowd if there was, oh, any song they might like to hear before the football game! In the split second before the crowd dutifully hollered ROCKY TOP, I yelled “FREEEE BIIIIRRRD” at the top of my lungs and he looked horrified. I didn’t care, though, cause the band was sweating their asses off in full uniform and he was wearing an untucked and inappropriately flowing shirt and looked like a hobo. The End.

Awesome. Just awesome.
And that’s why you’re not just Holly; you’re “Holly”. I would have never been so quick at that.

At the time, I was "Holly who had been drinking in full sun for 5 hours".
All credit to Gentleman Jack.

I would've done the same thing.
Really, what kind of a person making an invite for songs a band should play with a group of Southerners involves doesn’t expect someone to yell “FREEEEEEEEEEBIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDD”? I do that here. I mean, that’s his own fault.
Well done.
