Welp... gametime.
Let’s get a win today. Man up. Do it.

Howdy, folks
My schedule for the past week:
Monday: fly to Palm Beach. Meetings until 8:30.
Tuesday: Meetings all day, including flight back to Tri Cities arriving at 9:00-ish.
Wednesday: drive 11 hours to Little Rock.
Thursday: Fly to Des Moines early via . . . Dallas. Two hour drive to Richland, IA. Visitation. Eat. Sleep.
Friday: Funeral. Two hour drive back to Des Moines. Fly to Little Rock via . . . Chicago. Sleep.
Saturday: CompletelyTotallyUtterly exhausted.
I may watch this one the old fashioned way — with my dad and without a computer. Unless something extraordinarily exciting happens and I can’t help myself.
Wanted to say hey to everyone, though, and give a woo to get things started.
Woo!

I'm in
But I’ve got to serve as Girl-Unit Transportation around 2:00 so she can get to her game (which STARTS at 3)
Not a good start.
First possession, we throw the ball around the top of the key for 30 seconds and then launch a 23 footer.
they look like they aren't gonna even score today.
man….

Man... I really hate to say it
I know UT looks bad on both ends and they should be down, but the Blue and White whistle is starting to blow really early in this one. Come on….

Glad to know it's not just my TV acting up.
I think that “0” beside our name almost got burned into the screen.
If this level of play keeps up,
Looks like I’ll be buying tickets to Thursday SEC tourney games.

Best comment of the thread
I’m just baffled why they don’t do that. Unbelievable.

Dangit!!!!
They had the right idea there. GET THE BALL INSIDE. Then they start throwing it around the perimeter again.

If theyre gonna call fouls like that on Chism,
let’s just go home. Thats a joke

Thoughts
Horrible start. Understatement.
Can’t hit even from close.
But . . . shooting percentage should even out, and if we start hitting, we might still have a shot.

The defense has to stay tip-top.
They’ve done a good job overall, once they got some of the early jitters out.

Kentucky can't seem to miss
I like the effort inside on offense. Defense can’t get a stop.

Can’t go down by 15 like on Wednesday.

Prince with 4 fouls.
Not to be pessimistic, but that just might be game/set/match.
Unless somebody gets as tenacious on D as he is.
Foul? Hehehehehe....

We would have to win out and win a game or two in tourney...IMO

Depends how the rest of the season goes.
With wins over South Carolina and Florida I still think we’re safe. Lose those two and I suspect we’ll need a win or two in the SEC tourney. Lose one of the other games and yeah, it’s a possibility.
by Chris Pendley on Feb 21, 2009 2:36 PM EST up reply actions
If....
they can get to 10-6 in the SEC at the end of the regular season, they’re in. They need to beat Miss St and Bama at home and get one at Florida or SC.

20 offensive rebounds...
And still down 19…Arg

Well, we're failing at the two basic tenets of basketball.
1: Make your shots.
2: Make your opponent not make shots.

Heh.
Another Madden-ism.
Well, its all about scoring more point that the other team; that’s the key to winning…

I'm so pissed they didn't go down low
to Chism this game and kick out. Really a disjointed scheme.

That's just great.
I hate living in this state on days like today.

In all Seriousness...
Maze sucks. Chism thinks he is a shooting guard, Tyler Smith is becoming a weak old man.
At the beginning of the year we needed Williams, Hopson, and Prince to become better to make a complete team. The only problem with that is the guys that were supposed to be the dependable one Smith, Chism, and Mays have turned into the most undependable and often times liabilities.
I agree.
Tyler seems to hurl himself at the basket, land hard on the court with the ball flying in the air. Wheezy joneses to shoot the 3 ball. Those 2, as leaders on the team, need to get it together, especially if Hopson, Williams, Prince, Tatum, Tabb, and Maze wanna be this inconsistent and freak me out when they have the ball.
Frustrating…an understatement.

I hope Joel and Hoop put this as the recap:
“That was just a total failure. When you don’t post up Chism, you have no offensive identity. Post up Chism. Play like you care. See you guys Wednesday.”

Pearl said this was a public calling-out of the team.
He’s said it all in the locker room, but he thought it needed to be aired publicly.
I’m glad I fired up the radio broadcast. I was a little leery of Bob and Bert making excuses for the team and giving Pearl an easy out, but Pearl wasn’t gonna sugar-coat it.
He said Maze and Tabb did well defensively on Meeks, but were not good on offense right from the start. He said he had a play called for their first possession of the game and basically Tabb either forgot or didn’t understand and ran something else.
Any other insights
I missed the postgame but I would have liked to have heard what else Pearl specifically said about the team. I like the idea that Pearl is calling out our team publicly, this game was embarrassing to watch.
