Crazy day?

We’ll blame you, then, if it turns into a crazy night.

Ha, ok

As long as the Vols don’t cut half their starting lineup in the middle of the game, then it’s already a step up.

Cannons... fire them.

South Carolina

is throttling Kentucky, up 25 with 11 to play. That will put the Cocks alone atop the East leaderboard with a three-way tie for second. No mention of what it says about us for them to beat UK this bad.

Hey

Somebody told me that Bruce Pearl has never lost to Mississippi State.

;-)

by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 25, 2009 8:47 PM EST up reply actions

That reminds me.

I was totally going to spoof that post with a series of posts like “Scotty Hopson has never lost to Mississippi State”, “Steve Carell has never lost to Mississippi State”, but that …didn’t happen.

by Chris Pendley on Feb 25, 2009 9:12 PM EST up reply actions

I'm in

arms sore as hell from a nice workout, but I’m home in time to boot up cbssports.com

And I am ready to see a UT win*

  • please

Welcome

Time to get those fingers a workout now.

by Joel Hollingsworth on Feb 25, 2009 8:56 PM EST up reply actions

gonna be doing Comp Sci Homework

so definately ;)

kinda hard when my elbow says ’no when I try to make my arm go out straight.

"DAR-RIN HO-RN!"

I’m telling you, South Carolina took the blueprint from Bruce Pearl’s first season, and they’ve been executing it perfectly. Devan Downey = Chris Lofton…and they’re going to win the division.

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 8:58 PM EST reply actions

can we

be the florida of Bruce Pearl’s first season?

by bobo_the_vol on Feb 25, 2009 8:59 PM EST up reply actions

Hey

Those guys were all about the tournament…maybe we can get it all straight by then.

If we find enough wins to get in…which means we need to get it all straight tonight.

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

Wow

Empty seats. Guess they didn’t read lawvol’s piece.

Bobby Maze

Back in the starting lineup

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:09 PM EST reply actions

Hey, Will,

you predicted SoCar for the East, right?

by David Hooper on Feb 25, 2009 9:10 PM EST up reply actions

That's right

I look awfully smart tonight…but I was counting on the schedule doing it for them, not a 20 point beatdown of the team that just did likewise to us.

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

Chism shooting 3's again

Yeah

Apparently, they’re called plays, though. Pearl wants him to.

Oh, also Will,

remember your amazement that the Kentucky fans hadn’t started doubting Gillispie? It’s beginning…

by David Hooper on Feb 25, 2009 9:12 PM EST reply actions

At Rupp on Saturday

The fans sitting around me were merciless towards him when UK stopped trying to score late in the game and we cut the lead to like 14. I don’t think they bought into the idea that us giving them wide open shots was somehow “good coaching” by Billy G

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:16 PM EST up reply actions

Nice rebound Big Baby!

Did you hear he lost over 100 pounds?

by bobo_the_vol on Feb 25, 2009 9:14 PM EST reply actions

You must be waaaaaay ahead of the TV, then.

By my tube, BW hasn’t even checked in to play yet.

by David Hooper on Feb 25, 2009 9:16 PM EST up reply actions

indeed.

online feed for me and its 10-9. im behind every one.

by samhitch on Feb 25, 2009 9:17 PM EST up reply actions

Man, this is going to be weird.

I’m used to someone watching live spoilering it for me, but normally we’re within the same TV timeout window.

by Chris Pendley on Feb 25, 2009 9:18 PM EST up reply actions

LOL

TOTAL FREAKY.

Because apparently the online feed timing depends on when you start it. My score is 10-9 them.

Mine's just stopping and starting.

It’s like pictures, only if they were taken by a high school freshman in Photography 101. And he drew the “motion shot”. And is using the longest aperture setting known to man.

Impressive, since it hasn’t started yet.

But picture quality degrades at an equal rate.

Fun fact:

Yahoo has archives of all the games. Sick of Tennessee’s current play? Go back and watch the Vandy/Tennessee game? Want more Eric Berry? Watch the, um, other Vandy/Tennessee game!

I blame raycom.

Good finish on ESPN2

If anyone cares about Virginia Tech and Clemson – 77-75 VT with 1:45 to play

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:39 PM EST reply actions

It'll come down to the final possession.

VT up 1 with the ball and 30 seconds or so left; presumably Clemson fouls here and I don’t think VT is smart enough to start trading fouls.

by Chris Pendley on Feb 25, 2009 9:44 PM EST up reply actions

VT pulls it out.

Nasty non-calls at the end, but can’t blame the refs for not calling it. They never will.

by Chris Pendley on Feb 25, 2009 9:48 PM EST up reply actions

I think Pearl's outfit is making the difference here

Suspenders, simple orange tie instead of the Sopranos look. Welcome back, coach.

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:46 PM EST reply actions

Yeah..

I don’t really blame Wayne Chism for not paying attention to him when he was doing the whole t shirt and suit deal.

by samhitch on Feb 25, 2009 9:47 PM EST up reply actions

Raycom's score updates are so late

I expect to see an “Obama elected President” crawl across the screen next week.

by wvvol on Feb 25, 2009 9:47 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, that was a horrible announcing call

It’s one thing to say “Missed opportunity, there.” and another to say, “That’s called a Missed Opportunity.” Like it’s something so new and rare that no one but an expert would have recognized it.

We always shoot too soon

On those last possession of the half situations. Gave Kentucky a 3 because of it last time.

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:51 PM EST reply actions

Exactly

And the shot before it was with :08 on the clock. They all should’ve seen what Devin Harris did in 1.8 seconds like 2 billion times on SportsCenter and learned that 2.2 seconds is a really long time in basketball

by Will Shelton on Feb 25, 2009 9:53 PM EST up reply actions

I think Maze knew he was gonna miss

so he was giving time for an offensive rebound.

by wvvol on Feb 25, 2009 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

My parents live in North Little Rock

It’s just north of South Little Rock. As far as the East is from the West.

Are they going to go to the tourney?

by David Hooper on Feb 25, 2009 10:04 PM EST up reply actions

Can someone tell me why we decided to punt on the last possession of the half?

We get the ball back on our side of the court with 2.2 on the clock, and our inbounds play is to Chism near halfcourt? Seriously? WTF? Why couldn’t we try to inbound it to someone at least somewhat close to the basket? If we turn it over, Miss. State has the length of the court to go with a second or less on the clock…

Lou Brock loves Lamp.

Bledsoe’s hurt. The Pats are sunk with this Brady noob.

by David Hooper on Feb 25, 2009 10:07 PM EST reply actions

But in better news

Randy Moss just got traded to the Oakland Raiders. I guarantee at least two super bowl wins for him there!

by samhitch on Feb 25, 2009 10:09 PM EST up reply actions

No doubt

Was thinking that while doing the stats. They’ll likely improve their shooting, and then we may be in trouble.

I’m liking this version of the Vols much better. Teamwork first, and the snazzy individual plays pop out naturally.

by David Hooper on Feb 25, 2009 10:23 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, that was nice

Williams had to have known what the entire floor looked like. He was into that full court throw to Chism almost immediately after blocking it.
