lol
I was sitting here in the lovely home office and getting tired of waiting, so I’m like “Well, let’s make some coffee and make some phone calls.” And it usually works that as soon as you walk away from it, it happens.
Rivals has him as a five star, which even if they don’t go back and re-do the rankings, that’s gotta help everything from perception to reality for us. Apparently there’s no need to worry about our secondary play dropping off after this season after all.

With the increasing number of kids willing to sign after NSD,
I think they may have to re-think how they rank classes. It’s so nice and neat to do it all on one day and get the microwave answer, but sometimes a class is significantly affected by late signees. Hypothetical: if we picked up Bryce Brown as well, we’d effectively shift from a low-20 to a mid-to-low-teen class – a huge shift in perception.

Huge!
I’ve been talking to Blake some, and apparently some rumors are surfacing about Bryce Brown wanting to take a visit to UT (there’s also an article about how Bryce Browns agent said they might be looking at the CFL, and its pretty hilarious if you want a good read). And of course there’s still Orson Charles, who we’ve got a pretty nice chance at getting, if you ask me.
As odd as the Brown - CFL thing sounds, it bears very close watching.
If Bryce does get a good enough deal for the CFL, recruiting will change dramatically across the nation. The best advantage that college have right now is that recruits can’t go to the NFL out of high school. That locks the best players into finding a college for at least three years. If they think they can play in the CFL, play full-time, and not have to worry about academics, they’ll jump to that ship in a heartbeat. Even with the funny play of the CFL, it’s more intensive play and practice than college football. You also leave with a pocket of cash rather than marginal college living.
Even if Bryce’s name hadn’t been associated with UT, this could be significant. Fortunately, the lousy economy affects Canada as well; it’ll be harder for one of their teams to take a flier on him straight out of high school.

CFL quality
You really think that a good CFL team would beat a good college team? I would think the opposite.
Not so much in terms of team quality.
But player development is better when it’s your full-time job rather than a part-time gig between classes. We’re talking about kids that’ll be hungry for NFL draft positions, not guys who failed to make the NFL and are hoping to play for a few more years before entering the real world.
I've heard the same.
I have absolutely nothing to confirm it, though.

I'm guessing that...
… when you asked “anyone else seeing this?” (as opposed to hearing it) people thought you had seen it somewhere linkable.
Lou Brock loves Lamp.
Heard that on Heaps somewhere...
But couldn’t go back and find it when I looked again. Haven’t heard that on Brown, but at this point it would make sense.
