Am I taking crazy pills? Am I the only one who understands that we've completely stolen UF's, LSU's, and Bama's thunder? They land incredible classes, but what is everyone talking about today? THE VOLS! We even made PTI (will post the transcript later). The Tennessee image is being reinvented.
So to all the rival fans who are popping up out of the woodwork... it's great to have you here. It's great to not feel like our coach and team are going to be scared of you. You all keep saying, "OMGosh watch out for what Meyer/Saban is gonna do to you next year!!!!!" But that's the point. Our coach isn't scared. His gameplan won't be created out of "not screwing up" and all that mess. Our players won't be scared. You may beat us by eight million points, but we'll go down swinging.

That, I’m a big fan of. Back at Wyoming, we ran through a series of coaches who actually urged the players to “lose with dignity” when playing bigger-name opponents. When that happens, you might as well change the channel because the spirit of the fight is gone. Even in a complete mismatch, I want to see the little dog give it all he’s got.
Gratz.
If you stole anyone’s thunder, it was your women’s basketball coach. Instead of talking about the incredible feat of winning 1000 games, everyone is talking about how your football coach keeps sticking his foot in his mouth.
BTW the PTI guys are morons. This is more representative of what people are thinking:

dropping the F bomb a couple of years ago at their recruiting celebration was a joke to “get the crowd riled up.” If you think thats in the same league as publically saying Meyer is a cheater, than I feel sorry for you. (not really)

You may find his comments to be bone headed, but I take them as he fears no coach or team. The team to beat in the SEC is Florida and hes trying to get the Vol Nation excited and his players. I would go after them too. People say he’s “waking a giant” when he said that, but as we all have seen he’s not scared. THE LANE TRAIN IS COMING!

So far your coach has been trashed by espn, described as wreckless by sports illustrated, and publicly reprimanded by the commissioner of the SEC. By all journalistic accounts, your new coach is being thought of as an adolescent punk and you are excited that UT is getting attention?

But in all seriousness, it was a joke. And it’s been blown out of context and proportion and everyones feeding off of it like buzzards with a new kill. The GIST is is that Lane Kiffin wants everyone to know he (and UT) aren’t gonna be pushed around by some of the more dominant teams and recruiters. Half of this anger comes from the fact that we got Nuke. And that’s a pretty big deal for how late we were in the game and also the fact that he’s from Florida is a pretty big deal as well. Bottom line, it was a joke. I don’t know where, but someone else posted something about the only two people who will remember this two weeks from now will be Foley and Meyer. How true…

The joke is that you (and probably many other UT fans) think he was joking. And saying he’s not scarred is total crap. He should be scared. The talent level between UT and UF..hell throw Bama in there as well is getting wider and wider…Go ahead and say hes not scarred but if he wasn’t…he would keep his mouth shut and keep his talking to the field.

I see your an Alabama fan. SInce 2000, on the third Saturday in October, the record between the two is 5 to 4 Vols. Sure you won the last two, and will probably win the third, but I wouldn’t consider that too “consistent.”

Against those 3 teams you are 3-9 over the last 4 years. With 2 wins over UGA and one against Bama. IN that stretch you also have 2 loses to SC and one to Vandy.
When things are bad its always easy to call those who are beating you cheaters. Instead of pointing the finger at UF and Bama..you might want to try to figure out a way to out recruit and out play us.

Truth, okay you asked for it.
I’d probably say your 3 biggest rivals are Tennessee, Auburn, LSU. And correct me if I’m wrong, just trying to give you the “truth.”
Thus your overall record vs. all three is 5 and 7. Although you have outscored your opponents 257 to 218. Not as bad as 3-9, but still not .500.
The point is, Alabama/Florida have both been better than us, I’m not disputing that. Georgia on the other hand, we have been about on par with. All I’m trying to say is that we were stagnant with Fulmer, and I really think with the new staff we have, things will begin to change with Kiffin. Sure, he’s made some “stupid” comments for lack of better words, but I don’t think he should be judged by that having not even coached a game yet. He’s created a buzz in this program that I haven’t seen for some time, both fans and players are excited (and it’s only February,) while at the expense our rivals. But why should anyone really be concerned with how their rivals feel about them. No?
I appreciate the time and thought you put into you argument, with facts, as a opposed to “UT sucks cause their bad.” It’s really about UT not rolling over anymore, but rather shooting for the top dog.

Cuase im lookiing at the last 4 of Fulmers reign. We can look back at Kiffins 4 years when/ if he gets there. You can’t use Shula against us. Thats just not right :(
Since Sabans arrival its obvious he has Bama on the right track. He had a bump in the road at the end of last year but did quite well this year. He’s the right fit (personality wise) for the team and fan base. Kiffin on the other hand seems to be the exact opposite of a typical UT coach (which might be a good thing). He’s pretty (not fat), refined (doesn’t look like he just stepped out of a Krispie Cream), and talks out his butt (wait..thats sounds like a UT coach..i kid).
You are right though. He should be judged by what he does on the field, which is exactly everyones point. Don’t talk trash until you’ve done something to talk about. He’s just been fired from the NFL. Thats not something you can have “swagger” about. If you want to “fire up” the fan base, you call a prep rally, call out your own players and challenge them. You do something thats all about YOUR team. You don’t call out probably the 2 best coaches in the league. BEFORE YOU PLAY A GAME! Kiffin is a d-bag. Im sorry. People hate Saban cause he’s a jerk but they respect him as a coach. People hate Kiffin cause he’s an idiot who can’t keep his mouth shut….and they still don’t respect him as a coach.

You totaled up the last 4 when pointing out Tenn’s flaws. So I thought it was only fair that I totaled up the last 4. As a resident of the Bay Area, don’t use his NFL tenure as your argument. I know all about Al Davis, he has no one’s respect. His hire of Kiffin may have been rash, but I don’t even want to bring up the laundry list of things he did to make Lane’s situation worse.
