Letter from Lane Kiffin to Tennessee fans

Dear Tennessee fans,

I hope this note finds you well and excited about the future of Tennessee Football.

As we kick-off our first spring practice with the Tennessee family, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the opportunity you have given us.  Tennessee has a storied tradition of great players and great teams.     Our staff will do everything in our power to continue the great tradition and foundation that was built before us.  We are very excited about the opportunity we have here, and we hope you are too.

I want our fans to be an active part of the program.  Your energy and enthusiasm are two of the things that make Tennessee great.  That being said, I hope you will join us for our first practice in pads on Friday, March 13th in Neyland Stadium at 7 p.m.     This will give you a chance to come see what’s in store for Tennessee football.  Due to construction, we will cap admittance at 10,000 fans.  You can enter from gates 1, 2 or 3.

There are several events on campus Friday, including our SEC baseball opener at Lindsey Nelson at 7 p.m. and an event at the arena, so all parking on campus will be paid.  The most convenient parking will be in the G-10 garage or 11th Street garage and come around the back of the hill.

I also want to encourage you to come out for the Orange and White Game on April 18th at 3 p.m.  Because of stadium improvements currently underway, space will be limited for the Orange and White game so I encourage you to order online at utsports.com today.

I hope to see you in Neyland soon!

Go Vols!

So

Is anyone here planning on going?

by rblakeh on Mar 10, 2009 5:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Right now I'm planning on coming in for it

Bought my tickets right away after I read that part about “limited” seating.

5 bucks

General Admission. Students get in free with ID, but I’m not sure what the student or total allotment is.

FYI, more will be announced later.

We already have some plans in the works about the O&W, but it’s a bit early yet.

Are they still planning on selling student tickets...

..or have they repealed that unjust and overall idiotic policy

by jbragg on Mar 10, 2009 7:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If you're referring to the fall semester, I don't know.

But the student tickets for the O&W game are free, as far as I understand.

Bad news guys

I dont know if this has already been broughtup, but on my main page on comcast it had an article sayin that lane kiffin told alshon jeffrey the night before he signed with South carolina that if he signs there he will be pumpin gas like all the other players who went there. i dont think its a violation or anything, but its not good hes getting this kind of national attention already. it might be a little overstated in the article, but still.

It's also already been denied by Kiffin.

Chris Low link here.

I’m not saying he did or didn’t say it, but I will say that we can’t fairly be conclusive about it either.

It's all your perspective...

Now-a-days who doesn’t pump their own gas? I can’t remember the last time I saw a full service gas-station (outside of Oregon which mandates that attendants pump customers’ gas). Kiffin is just making a general comment about the state of driving in South Carolina….I hope…In all seriousness I’m all for rallying the fan base by prodding rival schools (Hey Bama we took your coaches, Hey Florida we took your recruits, etc.) but this is a little over the top and overly derogatory. I reallllllly hope Kiffin didn’t actually make these comments and instead the kid was tired being recruited at 2am and simply misheard.

In other news, I’m looking forward to the practice on Friday and am going to get my ticket to the O&W game tomorrow, see yall there!

So students get in free to the O&W game?

Does anyone know how this works? Where do I get my ticket?

by rblakeh on Mar 10, 2009 10:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think we just show up with our ID.

Hopefully that means they’re leaving a block of seats open for students. I’m planning on going the ID route myself, but I might sprig the $5 for a ticket if the student thing seems squirrely.

Either that, or the student tickets will be reserved for Big Orange Nation.

After all, what better way to introduce the new staff to the students than to have them only pay attention when they’re on the Jumbotron, then leave after the first half? ;-)
