Got Some Spring Practice photos
hey everyone,
I got some pictures up from spring practice today in case you might be interested...over at voljunkies.com photo gallery ....pretty awesome day over there today. A lot of energy and a lot of action, the coaches were pretty vocal and pretty demanding. Also they looked real good didnt seem to be any confusion or lack of direction, it really looked promising for a first day, Bram Cannon got a lot of snaps and he looked really good.
hey Hooper you still going curling Friday night? or are you gonna make the game?

So are you just a regular member of the public and they let you hang out for a bit?
Or are you in the media or something? I really want to go check out a few of these practices, but can’t seem to get a definitive answer as to whether or not I am allowed to attend.

rblakeh,
I am just a member of the regular public. I have no media credentials. It is really hard to say how things will go in the future, but with the new staff saying how they wanted to be fan friendly, I took a chance and went over there, the hardest part was finding a place to park, Then basically I just stood outside the fence over by the the baseball stadium and took pictures. I did not go inside. I am going to keep going until somebody stops me :) there were several people standing at the fence. good luck and hope to see ya over there sometime

I'll be going curling.
It’s the college nationals up in Chicago, so it’ll be pretty awesome to have a team from Knoxville going. (With luck we’ll be the team from the farthest south.) I committed to it long before this was ever announced; I don’t know which way I would have decided otherwise.
I’m just hoping for lots of photos to drool over when I get back.

Ahh, your doing the right thing, good luck up there. I will get as many pictures as I can. my camera ran out of batteries yesterday before it got to the scrimage portion of the practice. Hopefully Friday night I will be close enough

That is beyond awesome...
How long has UT had a curling team? I would love to play but how in the H does someone in Knoxville get a chance to play?

Show up at the Ice Chalet at 8:30 PM Sunday nights.
If you want, the website to the Great Smoky Mountains Curling Club is here.
We are actually in the process of getting curling recognized as a club sport on campus, and I’m not sure if it’s finalized yet. But curling is far more informal than most sports about that; they’ve sent teams to nationals for a few years now, but the teams were comprised of college players from the local club.
If you want, I’ll whip up a FanPost about curling in Knoxville. It’s about as kooky of a sport as you’ll find in the South, but it’s highly addictive.
Oh, and if you think you might show up this Sunday, let me know and I’ll get a hold of the club first. Unless we flame out in brilliant fashion at Chicago, I won’t be back in time on Sunday so I’ll want to let somebody else know. (But because it’s Spring Break, they might be a bit shorthanded on the teams and very well ask you to curl. It’s happened before; how’s your balance?)

He's a 5th-year senior.
He came in as a qb/athlete type guy and has spend his whole career on the practice squad. I don’t know the precise story, but he was out of Briarcrest in Memphis and came to UT the same year that Oher went to Ole Miss from Briarcrest. My guess is that they brought Cannon in to try to entice Oher to come to UT. (Oher’s coach, Hugh Freeze, nearly got a job with UT at that same time. I think it fell through when Oher didn’t materialize.)
But the past is the past; he’s spent a career on the team and will always be a Vol.

yeah I definately dont think he (Bram)will be the starter or anything, but I did find it interesting that he was getting so much action and to tell the truth I thought he threw the ball very well, if not better then the other two, but I caution it was just one practice and a very small amount of time.
