Wherein I rib hooper a little
I was reading this post on Dr. Saturday, which led me to this RTT thread full of Clawfense anticipation. From the comments comes this gem from hooper:
I’m not worried about the system being to hard to grasp, though, considering the success he’s had before UT.
Heh.

Ooh. And that, kiddos, is why you always remember that the internet never forgets anything.
About the only meager defense available is that none of us knew what the Clawfense really was. Heck, I was touting it as this Single-Wingish thingamajig at the time. After that, all I can say is that they never told anybody that installing the Clawfense was a 2-year project. Not much in the way of an argument on either front.
Ah, humility.
Don't feel too bad
I lost count of the laughably inaccurate things I’ve said on the Internet long, long ago.

Oh, I don't feel bad at all.
Actually, that’s really funny in hindsight. I probably should have added a LOL in there somewhere to indicate my lightheartedness.
So…

I remember
Reading those single-wing stories, before my time here, and then telling my friends about it in an effort to sound smart and ahead of the curve. Turns out there was no curve.
When it comes to the Clawfense, everybody loses except Lane Kiffin.

I also remember in the back of my head a warning from a UCLA fan.
He gave us a preseason warning about WCO offenses in the college game and how there’s not enough time to learn one (and backed it up with the Karl Dorrell experience). I believe I was at the front of the line for people saying something along the lines of, “Yeah, but this is a different WCO; even D-II teams are able to make it work.”
(I might as well get this all out of the way in one blow.)
Hook Line and Sinker.

I'm a big fan of the serial comma
As are publishers, so . . . .

If you want to sound fancy...
You can call it the Oxford Comma. More on that and generally acceptable uses here:

FYI, the Associated Press Stylebook (which I’m assuming most professional sportswriters are going by) frowns on its usage. Then again, it also says you should print ‘website’ as ‘Web site,’ so I only bring it up for laughs.

Hmm. Sounds stuffy to me.
And I am currently bound to the Chicago Manual for a print publication, so I’m sticking with that, and the other, and the last one.

I'm guilty of it myself.
I’ve been trying to avoid going overboard with the comma usage. Results have been a bit …mixed. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, though.

Understood.
I’ll fight that for my entire life, most likely. I think I do it because it’s where I’d add pauses in conversation.

I think that's what it's for
It’s not a crutch, it’s to aid communication.
