Depends on how you define the question.
When it comes to transcending sport, Jordan had an effect which I’d classify as unique. Candace has the ability to revolutionize the women’s game (and there are people following in her footsteps already) – and I think she will. Is everyone ready for Candace to become that lasting icon? I’m not sure.
Really, I think the comparison is closer to Babe Ruth than it is to Jordan.

Just say Yes. :P
Jordan is the Backstreet Boys of sports transcenders. Ali is The Beatles. Candace Parker is Tina Turner.

I guaranteed you that is the first time
Michael Jordan has been compared to the Backstreet Boys. Congratulations.

nope
because if the nba had dissolved by the time MJ was 25, he wouldn’t have been a star either.

interesting point
It is well established that the WNBA has been losing money from the get-go and that Stern just shifts over NBA profits to keep the WNBA afloat. The NBA is now faced with substantial economic difficulty and it will be interesting to see how long Stern and the owners can afford to keep the WNBA experiment alive.
