UT Students: Please Make This Happen
Monday and Tuesday of this week are the voting days for UT's student government next year. In addition to the usual t-shirt-wielding hordes of ad hoc campaignees, the best campaign posters I've ever seen are all over campus today:

In the sandbox that is student government, why not? I have no idea if Berry is actually involved in this campaign, but let's at least give him the opportunity to decline the nomination if he so chooses.
(FYI: the two campaigns on campus are named "Move" and "Evolve" respectively. That explains the header to the poster.)

That’s the best part.

Heh. Yeah.
Scanned in exactly as written. I’m guessing that whoever had this axe to grind against student government wasn’t exactly in worried about quality.

It’s only missing because Berry needed it for his post-victory superhero outfit.

He has got my vote
I saw him today sitting on the stairs at the end of the pedestrian walkway next to all those SGA campaign tents…he’s the man

I saw Gerald Jones near the SGA campaign tents
Rocking the Jheri Curl.
I hate SGA campaign time. I do enjoy an opportunity to put on on my “leave me alone” face, though. Well, I guess I always wear that… it’s just completely justified during this time.

The SGA campaign season was a great time to meet new girls
I would say 70% of the people involved in SGA were attractive girls. So even though I believed SGA to be silly and ridiculous on several different levels, the utilitarian in me thought it wise to jump on board with one of the campaigns (by running for some ridiculously low-level position (like SGA student representative for the college of engineering) or by simply passing out donuts one day or doing some other menial tasks) and meet some cute ladies in the process.

The Plot Thickens!
I was foiled In my attempt to write-in Berry with the online voting page. The procedure is to submit the first few letters of the last name, then to click on the appropriate name out of a list generated by your entry. Of all the students on campus with the last name “Berry”, a certain Eric is conspicuously absent.
The political machines are blocking the people’s candidate!
(Well, that or he’s already requested to have his name removed, which is far more likely. And I can’t say that I’d blame him.)

He's listed as James Berry when you vote online
I also voted Dennis Rogan as VP ;-)

I thought of that as soon as I voted, argh
Maybe it will give Teardrops more incentive to stick around if he’s holding office!

Think I should post up that ticket for the morning?
It’s not everyday I have an excuse to put both Berry and Smith in a headline together. Besides, it’s a lot more fun than actual student government.

I plead ignorance
why would it be listed as James? Is he a James “Eric” Berry Jr. or something?

The campaign that spends 1/4 of a million $ on unnecessarily gaudy advertising
Hates you.

P.S.
SGA elections were my least favroite time of year. I ALWAYS voted for that one guy that thought hewould be cute by making a t-shirt with a sharpie and wearing it around campus…
Actually that was just one year then I just stopped voting.
I had the heisman pose perfected by the end of that week every year.
“no I will not wear your t-shirt, accept your campaign literature or vote for you who obviously do not understand the concept of wasteful spending.” Kablam! Stiff arm!!

Good.
Student government is a sandbox. It’s their place to practice hands-on without causing any real harm. If they want to spend daddy’s money on campaigns just to watch the most popular guy on campus get a free write-in campaign, that’s a part of the experience.
I don’t have any animosity toward them at all. College is about learning new things and having new experiences. It’s a shame they follow the same bloated patterns of our own government rather than innovate a little more, but it is what it is and they’re gaining from it. And I can ignore with the best of them.
Though I might troll through to see if they have some bribes free food…

Aside
I live in DeKalb County, GA and ran a write-in “campaign” to be Cobb County, GA tax commissioner. I received three votes.
I love Cobb County because they publish a list of all the names people write in.
